We Have a Beam Pro Channel! February 27, 2017

We’ve got some big news to announce for the site today, we have created an all new game streaming channel on Beam.Pro!

We’ve been having constant technical issues streaming Xbox One games on Twitch.TV for almost a year and because of that we have been playing PS4 games exclusively in that time. For right now, we will use Beam exclusively to stream games on the Xbox One, and will continue to use Twitch for PS4 game streams.  This shouldn’t be an issue as we still plan to archive all of our game streams on our YouTube Channel after they’ve concluded.

This is exciting news as we have stockpiled a backlog of Xbox One games over the past year we would like to stream. There is no shortage of great Xbox One and Xbox 360 games including Quantum Break, Halo 5: Guardians and Alan Wake.

You may also notice we’ve posted a direct link to our Beam Channel on the site’s sidebar. Feel free to use it all you’d like.

Special thanks to Wynter for helping us out with the Beam service and answering some of our questions while we were doing test streams!

Big news for Pokémon Trainers across the internet, today is the 21st birthday of the original release of Pokémon!  This is an epic anniversary deserving of major recognition.  To celebrate, The Pokémon Company is doing lots of great events across the web, and we are going to tell you all about it!

First off, the official Pokemon Website and the Pokémon TV app are going to offer several movies like Pokémon: The First Movie, Pokémon 4Ever, and Pokémon: Zorark Master of Illusions for free streaming today.  We checked the app as of the time we are writing this article and the movies aren’t up on the Pokémon TV app just yet but we are sure they will be added soon.

Second, users of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online will get some exclusive goodies.  We reported earlier in the week that GameStop in the US is also doing a TCG Online promotion  where they will give an exclusive online code for any player who buys over $11.99 US in TCG merchandise.  While you’re there, don’t forget to ask for a free bottle cap code that can be used in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon!  That promotion will continue until March 5th.

However, anyone who plays Pokémon Trading Card Game Online will get some all-new exclusive goodies just for logging in today!  Make sure to do that!

Pokémon Go players will be able to find Pikachus wearing festive party hats starting today. Once caught, the Pikachu will keep its party hat forever but you’ll only be able to find them in the wild until March 6th!

Finally, Twitch is hosting an all-day live stream of all things Pokémon today!  It hasn’t begun just yet but when it does you can watch the feed at twitch.tv/pokemon.  You don’t need a Twitch Channel to watch the event but if you have a Twitch account, you can always subscribe to the Pokémon Channel to get notified on when today’s stream starts.

UPDATE: The stream has begun.

If you don’t have the Pokémon TV app it can be downloaded for free on your Android or iOS-powered smart device.  The Pokémon Trading Card Game Online can be played by anyone with a PC, Mac, iPad or Android Tablet which meets the game’s minimum system requirements.

If you feel like you missed anything, check out this website for all the official details!  Happy Pokémon Day, Trainers!

The time has come for us to talk about Blitzball, Final Fantasy X‘s signature minigame.  Maniac has been seriously scared to engage in playing Blitzball because after hearing how difficult the game was, he was concerned about being defeated in front of an audience.

Now we come to the point in Final Fantasy X where we will play Blitzball for the first time in the game’s story. It is considered to be the most difficult Blitzball match in the game. Does Maniac actually have no chance or will he pull of the greatest upset in Blitzball history? Watch and find out.

And now, just because we like you, here’s a video of Maniac getting utterly defeated in an optional Blitzball game.

Final Fantasy X is out now for the PS2. It is also out as part of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on PS3, PS4, PC and PS Vita.

Gaming History You Should Know – Ura Zelda February 23, 2017

YouTube Channel Yesterworld Entertainment has recently been wowing me with an incredible series of analysis into the past of video games, movies and even theme park rides!  Earlier today, they released their most recent video, a look at a game Nintendo announced but sadly never released in its original form. Gamers today would know it by its working title, Ura Zelda for the Nintendo 64DD.

I’m sure many of you knew that the Nintendo 64 was originally planned to offer an expansion accessory in the form of the 64DD, but I bet most people don’t know that the game that went on to get released as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was originally going to require the 64DD to play.  While Ocarina of Time was eventually released without requiring the 64DD, many believed that the failure of the 64DD resulted in Zelda game content and features that never saw the light of day.

Is that true?  Was Ura Zelda something we missed out on?  Let’s let Yesterworld Entertainment fill in the rest.

Like the video?  Check out more content from Yesterworld Entertainment!

Maniac’s been hooked on playing Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster since he started playing the game earlier this week.  It is considered to be one of the finest console RPGs of all time, and one of the best games on the PS2…so why did it take us so long to finally play it?

We are headed to the second temple and we will be doing a lot of battles on the way. Join us as we continue our playthrough of the game.

All gameplay footage is provided with full video commentary.

Final Fantasy X is out now on PS2, and it is part of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on PS3, PS4, PC, and PS Vita.

A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV Releasing Free on March 1st February 21, 2017

When Final Fantasy XV was ramping up to get released, Square Enix announced a partnership with GameStop to offer everyone who preordered the game from GameStop were eligible to get an exclusive standalone game, A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV.

The game’s art style is heavily inspired by 16-Bit classics and its gameplay feels a lot like 2D beat-em-ups like Streets of Rage.  It even had its own Achievements/Trophies.  We played it and thought it was a fun diversion.

However, anyone who missed out on getting it through the initial preorder promotion was ineligible to get the game through any other means. It was not available for sale on the Xbox Marketplace or PlayStation Network, and users who ordered FFXV from places other than GameStop were not elible to get it either.  That is about to change.

It is my pleasure to inform you all that Square Enix has just announced A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV is getting released as a free digital download on Xbox One and PS4 starting March 1st!  If you haven’t checked it out yet, make sure to give it a download, especially if you’re interested in seeing more of the Final Fantasy XV universe.

For over a decade, Maniac’s closest friends have implored him to check out the console RPG Final Fantasy X, and now that the game has been rereleased on the PS4, he felt the time was finally right to play it.  He’s not trying to get a perfect run like he did with the Uncharted games, but he does try to call out everything cited in the Grand List of RPG Cliches and find the 26 primers required to translate the Al Bhed language on later replays. Will he be able to do it?  Watch and find out!

All gameplay footage is provided with full video commentary.

Final Fantasy X is out now on Pc, PS2, PS3, PS Vita and PS4.
