So What Happened is back by popular demand!

As the new Alan Wake game came on track to be released, traffic for the So What Happened video I made about Alan Wake (which you can watch here) increased tremendously, and with the ability to post longer videos up having been returned to me, making a new video about the newest Alan Wake game, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, seemed like the perfect decision.

This latest site video is about the backstory and plot of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare.  Why is Alan Wake in Night Springs, Arizona for one night?  Who is Mr. Scratch, this evil doppelganger who was created when Alan first entered the Dark Place?  Finally, just what happens to Alan at the very end?

Be warned, there will be HEAVY SPOILERS to the Alan Wake games included in this video.  Enjoy!

Halo Wars: So What Happened? January 27, 2011

So What Happened? is a continuing series at gameXcess.net where we take the most complex video game stories and break them down for easier digestion.

Maniac breaks down the story of Halo Wars, the first Halo game not to be told from a first person perspective.

The story was much more complex than other Halo games had been up to that point, and relied heavily on knowledge of the Halo Expanded Universe. Because of that, a lot of things were not explained in the game, and may have left players puzzled as to just what happened.

Maniac also wraps up the video with some background on the Halo Wars developers and community.

Its the start of a new original series for gameXcess.net!  So What Happened? is a new video series where we take some of the most complex stories in games and break them down for digestion.  Sometimes conjecture will be used, and a lot of reference to vaguely hinted upon backstory will be referenced but at the end of it, rest assured you’ll be told a story that you will be able to understand.

For our first episode of the series, we’re going to be talking about Alan Wake.  For those of you confused by the plot of Alan Wake, fear not, Maniac is here to tell you a story of several people, and explain exactly what Alan found himself in the middle of before he even arrived at Bright Falls with his wife.
