Halo Fans everywhere can rejoice. While I appreciated the Halo Channel when it was released around the time of the Master Chief Collection, I long loved the original Halo Waypoint app for the Xbox 360. Over the past three years, it’s been disappointing to see no new exclusive content (documentaries, videos, interviews) come to the Halo Channel, and now it looks like that is changing.

In anticipation for the upcoming open beta of Halo: Infinite, Halo Channel is being rebranded as Halo Waypoint, and will offer exclusive updates about the game alongside your multiplayer statistics. That’s all I needed to hear!

Halo Waypoint (or Halo Channel) is out now for free on the Android and iOS Smart Devices.

We’re nearly a month away from the releases of the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes for the Nintendo Switch and like Pokémon Legends Arceus we have seen next to nothing about the games since they were first revealed earlier this year. Now, we finally get a closer look at the games. I know their art style is controversial, but I must admit I find it charming. Take a look and make the call.

Pokémon Shining Pearl and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond are coming November 2021 exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.

One year ago, Square Enix released Marvel’s Avengers, and since then have released new multiplayer maps, single-player expansions, new heroes, and a lot more. Heck, I would be one to say that they felt Kamala Khan’s single-player campaign was one of my favorite video-game stories in quite a long time. Now, it’s been a year and Square Enix has released this trailer to celebrate all they’ve released this year. Check it out.

Of course, who knows what else will be coming in the next year? PlayStation owners haven’t gotten our Spider-Man expansion yet.

Marvel’s Avengers is out now for PC, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5.

Following up on the tremendous success of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan, Nintendo and Universal have confirmed the long-rumored much-anticipated Donkey Kong Country expansion will be coming to the Universal Studios Japan park. As far as the early concept art exposes, this will be an addition of the already-existing Super Nintendo World, and likely will feature an environment based on the SNES classic and a Donkey Kong ride.

No word has been mentioned what this means for the bi-coastal Universal Studios parks in the US. It was expected a Donkey Kong Country expansion would come to Super Nintendo World at the upcoming Epic Universe theme park coming to Orlando, FL. It looks like Japan will get this first. Can’t wait to see it.

Gaming History You Should Know – Sir Clive Sinclair September 26, 2021

It’s Sunday, welcome back to another Gaming History You Should Know, where we highlight some of the best independently produced documentaries across the web about the history of games. If you followed the news this past week, you may have learned that we recently lost one of the original pioneers of home PC gaming, Sir Clive Sinclair. If you are a British visitor to this website the name above may be a bit more familiar. Sir Clive was of a mind that personal computers should be cheap and readily available to everyone. While this philosophy sounds great on paper, anyone with computing background will tell you that if you are sourcing cheaper parts, you will sacrifice either quality or performance. In the case of the Sinclair computer, while it wasn’t as robust as a Commodore 64 or Apple II, nor could it have as good a performance as either, its lower price made it a good choice for young people to use as their first PC.

Before we talk about the man, I want to talk a bit about the machines that bore his name. Here’s a video produced by the 8-Bit Guy, who talked about the Sinclair computers. He mostly highlights the computers that made their way over to the US, but they are fairly comparable to the more common UK units. I honestly had never experienced using these machines back in the 80s, so this is a great video to watch them in action.

Next we are going to talk about the man behind the machine, and also about the impact the man and the machine had on so many people. Here’s the work of Computerphile, a channel I appreciate for their detailed documentaries about computer history. In this special video, they interviewed many people from the classic gaming community to share their thoughts about the Sinclair platform and about their experiences with the man himself. Enjoy.

Rest In Peace, Sir.

Many years ago, the developers of the No More Heroes franchise produced a short film to bridge the gap between the first and second game. However, not many people are aware of this short, and because of that it has fallen into obscurity. The reason not many people are aware of it was due to the fact it was only released in Japan as a special goodie included with the No More Heroes 2 Limited Boxed Set.

Now, I’m happy to say it has seen an official release online with a full English dub. If you haven’t watched it yet or just want to experience it in English, give it a watch!

No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle are out now for the Wii, Nintendo Switch, PC and Luna. No More Heroes 3 is out now for the Nintendo Switch.
