Happy Pokémon Day! Ladies and gentlemen, The President of The Pokémon Company.

Big announcements come in this short video today. First off, Pokémon’s traditional gameplay components look to be back. You seem to be able to battle wild Pokémon in this game. The newest region seems to be based on a Western European country, possibly Norway or Holland. This makes sense, as many young people backpack across Europe in a very similar way to a real-life Pokémon journey.

We don’t know what other Pokémon surprises are in store for us this year. We do know a live-action feature film is about two months away from a theatrical release, but that may not be what they were alluding to in the video. Perhaps we will learn more at the Pokémon World Championships in DC.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are coming in late 2019 exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.

Warner Bros has announced the second official trailer for the feature film Detective Pikachu will be getting released tomorrow. To hold us over until then, Ryan Reynolds posted this tongue-in -cheek featurette about what it took to prepare him for the title role. Enjoy.

Pretty sure this is all a joke but with Ryan you just never know…

Detective Pikachu is coming to theaters in May 2019.

I know we’ve been long hailed as big fans of the Halo franchises. We’ve played through every major Halo game, hosted Halo LAN parties since the early 2000s, beta tested Halo 3, Halo Reach and Halo 5: Guardians, read the Halo novels, and saw every Halo movie. Now it looks like Microsoft is preparing a whole new way to experience the Halo universe for a limited time in the real world, Halo: Outpost Discovery! Check out the trailer:

You can read all the details about Outpost Discovery on their Official Website.

Things to Watch This Pokemon Day 2019 February 23, 2019

Today marks the start of Pokémon Day 2019 and if you’re like me, you’re biding your time until the respective Pokémon Play and Trade and Pokémon Go Events begin in your region. So what better way to celebrate the birthday of Pokémon than to watch some of the wealth of media content available?

First off, if you have a compatible smart device, you should be able to download the free Pokémon TV app. This app currently includes episodes from the very first and the most recent Pokémon animated show. It is also having a very special limited promotion where for a brief time you’ll be able to watch the animated feature film Pokémon: The Power of Us completely free of charge. If you have the app already, make sure to upgrade it to the most recent version. If you don’t have it, it can be downloaded from your device’s respective App Store.

If you’re a Netflix user and you would rather use Netflix, Netflix has most of the first season, XY, and Sun and Moon episodes available for their subscribers and several movies including Pokémon: I Choose You.

If you’re an Amazon Prime Subscriber and you’d like to watch episodes of Pokémon from later seasons, Prime users can watch episodes of later seasons from Pokémon Gold and Silver or Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire at no extra cost. Sadly, I didn’t see any Pokémon movies currently available to watch on Prime.

Next up we are going to take a look at the Food Network. There’s a fantastic competition show called Cake Wars, where the best bakers across the country compete to make the best themed cake. This past season, several returning bakers competed to make the best Pokémon themed cake. Sadly, Food Network has not made the episode available through Cable On Demand, but you if you’re in the US and you have a participating cable provider, you can watch it on the Food Network app.

Just a quick reminder: Pokémon’s Play and Trade Events will be hosted at GameStop and Best Buy today. Check with your local retailer to find out what time they will be happening. Pokémon Go’s exclusive Clamperl research event will start in North America at 2PM EST. Make sure to spin for research at your local Pokestops to participate!

Pokémon Go and Pokémon TV are out now for Android and iOS Smart Devices.

February 27th marks the anniversary of the release of the original Pokémon games in Japan, and for the past few years The Pokémon Company has celebrated this day with all kinds of giveaways and surprises for fans of this long standing franchise. What do you say we share some of the biggest celebration events you can expect!

The Pokémon TV app is a great way to watch older and newer episodes of Pokémon: The Animated Series. It has just been updated to integrate Pokémon Trainer accounts, allowing you to resume a show you were watching on a different device. I’d love it for Samsung to add this to their Smart TV application lineup. You can get the update right now on smart devices although the Apple TV version has not received this update as of the time I’m posting this. If you wanted to rewatch some of your favorite old episodes or catch up on some of the newest ones, give this app a download right now!

Starting on February 23rd, Pokémon Go players will notice special Research Events which when completed will give them the opportunity for an encounter with the Pokémon Clamperl between 11am and 2pm PST. You’re going to want to capture as many of these as you can through the day as you won’t know what they’ll evolve into until you try to evolve them and you won’t be able to find them in the wild. All the details of the event can be found here.

A special Pokémon Play and Trade event will be hosted at Best Buy stores on Feb 23rd and GameStop Stores on Feb 23rd and Feb 24th. The event will be similar to the ones previously hosted by the now defunct Toys R Us stores, in that players will be able to gather and trade Pokémon TCG cards amongst themselves at the event. A special 3-pack TCG booster set will be given to attendees free of charge while supplies last. You might want to call your local store ahead of time to get all the details.

Nintendo NYC at 10 Rockefeller Plaza New York, New York is having a special Pokémon event every day between Feb 27th to March 3rd. They will be hosting a range of different events on site ranging from Play and Trade to Face Painting, a Q&A with he guys at the Nintendo Treehouse, and the chance to talk to Pikachu and Eevee! If you’re in the NYC area, check it out! Nintendo NYC is a must-visit destination for any Nintendo fan visiting the city! You can get a full schedule of the upcoming events here.

Finally there is going to be a huge marathon of Pokémon content on Twitch starting on February 27th! TwitchPresents will be airing selected episodes from Pokémon The Series: Diamond and Pearl, Pokemon The Series: Black and White and Pokémon The Series: XY. A few movies are also going to be streamed but they won’t say which ones just yet. The episodes will continue to air until May 5th!

This isn’t enough for you? Here’s the rundown of all the details! Happy birthday, Pokémon!

Pokémon Go is out now free of charge for Android and Apple Smart Devices. Pokémon TV is also out on Apple and Android Smart Devices, Apple TV and Roku.
