Sims 3 Console E3 2010 Presentation June 16, 2010

A good friend of mine is a religious player of The Sims games.  The series was created by Wil Wright, Game God and “Nerdiest Nerd in all the Computerverse” (his words, don’t believe me? Play The Simpsons Game).  The Sims 3 was a major success on PC and showed EA that had been using harsh DRM on all their games that they could release a game without DRM and it would sell, provided it was good.

Well, the system requirements on Sims 3 were pretty steep, and my friend was unable to play it.  Rest assured, Sims 3 is coming to consoles, and here’s a little preview.

Gears of War defined Co-Op play by offering a persistent character your friends could drop into at any time to take up and control for assistance and help.  Now, the whole squad looks like it can be taken over for 4 player rock and roll.

At the Microsoft E3 Press Conference, CliffyB and three others demonstrated four player cooperative play in the single player campaign of the highly anticipated Gears of War 3.

Gears of War 3 will be released April 2011 for Xbox 360.

Something I’ve been waiting for since it was first announced, a story trailer for Disney’s Epic Mickey has been released.

Game Director Warren Spector (one of the Game Gods) narrates this insightful trailer which shows the story of the upcoming game for the Nintendo Wii, and what you’ll be facing while playing as the King himself, Mickey Mouse.

Epic Mickey is coming Holiday 2010 to the Nintendo Wii.

It took all day long to post up the amount of news I had on this website.  That plus the amount of professional websites I’ve seen, and the new official twitter application for the iPhone made me decide that bringing in a Twitter feed would be the best thing I could do for the site.

Maniac’s Twitter feed can be viewed in the righthand bar of the website right under the archives links.  You can also load the twitter page manually here.

Alan Wake DLC Gameplay Preview June 15, 2010

Here’s a gameplay teaser for the upcoming DLC for Alan Wake, titled “The Signal”

Without spoiling anything, the gameplay reminds me a lot of a cross between regular combat with the game, and the gameplay at the end.  This certainly must have something to do with the ending, and I’m glad to see the DLC is addressing the ending up front instead of making gamers wait for the sequel.

The Signal, the first Alan Wake DLC will be free to all owners of new retail copies of the game on July 17th, redeemable with the included code.  Alan Wake is only on Xbox 360.

I make it no secret I was a big fan of last year’s inFAMOUS for the PS3.  It was a lot of fun to play around in an urban jungle as a realistic super hero.

For the sequel, from the looks of it they’re going a complete 180.  They’re trading steel and glass buildings for bricks and bayou.  The main character’s been redesigned, and he’s got a whole lot of new moves.  I’m really excited to see this one.

inFAMOUS 2 is coming to the PS3.

I found a much better version of the Portal 2 demonstration and updated the site accordingly for those who think it looks differently.  I’m also working as best as I can to pull the videos that currently feature advertising (*cough* G4’s) and replace them as soon as possible, you shouldn’t have to deal with watching ads for much longer.

We all would have to agree that a Playstation Move (or Microsoft Kinect) by itself is not a reason to buy one, regardless of price.  It’s going to need a killer app in order to sell.  Could this game be it?

Announced today, Sorcery for the Playstation Move, a platformer that transforms your Move controller into a Magic wand, enabling you to cast arcane magic to save a medieval world from darkness.

Sorcery will be coming exclusive to the Playstation 3.

Bioware has just announced on the first day of E3 that everyone who plays Star Wars: The Old Republic will get their own star ship to fight their way through the galaxy.

The starship will be very much like Knights of the Old Republic’s Ebon Hawk and it will very much be like a hub where you can interact with your friends and your crew members in between missions.
