This summer, Barnes and Noble Bookstores all across the country have been hosting free seminars on Pop Culture on topics ranging from Star Wars to Harry Potter.  On a bright Saturday afternoon, Barnes and Noble hosted a pop culture seminar on the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

I have to admit that while I have been familiar with the Pokémon TCG since it was first released I had no idea how to actually play the game.  I thought this event was a great opportunity to learn how to play and interact with other local Pokémon Trainers.

How did the event go?  Watch the video and find out.

The year of Pokemon’s 20th Anniversary is hardly winding down and to celebrate the start of the month of August, The Pokémon Company has teamed up with GameStop in the US to distribute the Mythical Pokemon Arceus starting today.

This is a very big deal as Arceus is one of the most powerful Pokémon in existance, in fact it’s so powerful it is actually banned for use at official competitive events.

To get yourself an Arceus, you’ll need to visit your local GameStop store to get a unique download code for the Pokémon free of charge. You can then redeem the code on your Generation 6 game, provided your 3DS system is connected to the Internet and up to date before redeeming your code.  This event will continue until August 24th, but any codes obtained through the promotion will work until November 30th, 2016.

Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are all out now for the Nintendo 3DS Platform.

After performing just over three hours of maintenence on the DOOM multiplayer servers in anticipation for the game’s second major update, Bethesda and id Software have released the second update for DOOM simultaneously on all of its available platforms. The new update brings in some bug fixes alongside a lot of new multiplayer content including new multiplayer game modes.

To celebrate the release of the new update, Bethesda is hosting a Double XP weekend starting now. That’s right, anyone playing DOOM multiplayer will earn twice the amount of XP they would normally get for each match. This should make it faster for those trying to get the Rank 5 achievement/trophy this weekend.

DOOM Update 2 must be downloaded before you can resume online play.  Depending on your platform and if you already had the previous game patch installed, Update 2 can weigh in at around 12-13GB.

DOOM is out now on PC, Xbox One and PS4.

If you’re using a Windows 7 or Windows 8 equipped computer  (either purchased at retail or bundled with your new PC) today is your final day to upgrade that computer to Windows 10 completely free of charge.

Windows 10 brought a lot of new features to the PC including native integration with Xbox Live, a new version of DirectX, an improved Windows Store, native support for new hardware, and a lot more.  It’s also required to play recent games including Remedy’s Quantum Break.

If you have been holding off upgrading your system until the last possible minute, today is that final minute.  You can currently upgrade to Windows 10 either through Windows Update or by downloading the Media Creation Tool.

In the highly unlikely event you are asked for a CD-Key, the Windows 10 installer will accept your Windows 7 or Windows 8 Key until the deadline ends. However, as long as you use it before the deadline passes you will be able to reuse it if you ever need to reinstall Windows 10.

During the game’s scheduled downtime it is highly unlikely that players will be able to access the game’s multiplayer features, but this will only be temporary. We will keep you posted on when the servers go back up.

Pokémon Go has revolutionized what could be done in a SmartPhone title. It has taken all of the platform’s strengths and used them to create a great game anyone can play. Since its release, it has become the most popular application on SmartPhones…an incredible feat given the wide array of applications out there.

When Pokémon Go was first revealed, the game’s developers also announced they app could be used in conjunction with the Pokémon Go Plus accessory, a Bluetooth enabled device that could help players catch Pokémon and in-game items in Pokémon Go without having to keep the application running.

It is my sad duty to inform all of you that the Pokémon Go Plus accessory, originally announced for release at the end of July, has been delayed until September.
