You Cannot Use PSVR on PS5 Without an Adapter November 10, 2020

Just a heads up for people like me who love their PSVR and want to continue using it with the Playstation 5. The PlayStation 5, out of the box, can run PSVR software. However, the PS5’s new camera accessory is incompatible with the PSVR’s headset and cannot provide the required motion tracking the headset requires for full VR immersion.

So, if you’re an existing PSVR owner planning to replace their PS4 with a PS5, what do you do? First off, you need to keep your PlayStation 4 Camera, headset, and external box. Then, you must go to this website and order a PS5 camera adapter. The PS5 uses an entirely custom camera port which is different than the camera port used in the PS4, and this adapter is critical for PSVR support on the PS5.

You MUST have your PSVR’s serial number ready when you place the order.

Today is the official launch day of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S game consoles. Sadly, we don’t have one, so we can’t give our thoughts on it as of yet. But here’s a pretty trailer with all the console’s features on it.

The Series S and Series X will play the same games, but the Series S lacks a disc drive and the ability to output video is locked to 1080p. The price is $499 for the Series X and $299 for the Series S.

How to Get Fire TV to Go Straight to Your Cable Box When You Turn it On November 9, 2020

We’ve got an important How-To video up for you guys. If you own a television with integrated Fire TV support, you might have noticed that regardless of what application or input you were watching before turning off the TV, it will automatically boot back to the Amazon Home Screen.

This reboot to home “feature” can be frustrating, particularly if you prefer to watch television channels as soon as you hit the power button on the remote. It also can be frustrating if your television’s remote isn’t compatible with your television provider’s set top box, and you don’t want to have to use multiple remotes just to navigate your tv channels and your apps.

So what can you do? Watch this video and find out.

An extremely serious Apple update has just been released and I’m telling everyone to download it as soon as possible (if not sooner). The new update, 14.2, includes some bug fixes, 100 new emojis, and some serious security fixes that are in the process of being exploited right now.

You can download the update through your device’s software update feature or through iTunes. The update weighs in at around 720MB. If you have a pre-14 device, it is likely you will need to update that as well.

Gaming History You Should Know – History of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire November 1, 2020

Welcome back, happy Sunday everyone! With Halloween now a distant memory we prepare to move into the winter holidays, which always hold a soft spot in the hearts of gamers. Let’s be honest, the vast majority of game consoles launch in this season, alongside a huge library of new games to take advantage of the new platform’s features.

Let me take you back to the mid-90s. The Star Wars prequels were still years away, but the original films had just re-released on VHS with THX remaster and a new generation of young people (myself among them) were watching them for the first time ever on their home televisions. At the same time George Lucas’s video game company, LucasArts, was in its heyday, producing some of the greatest PC games of all time including Dark Forces, X-Wing, and TIE Fighter.

In the mid-90s fans wanted to read more Star Wars stories, and books that were released as part of the Expanded Universe were selling very well. At the same time, Nintendo was planning to release the Nintendo 64, and Lucasarts was asked to have a brand-new game for the console ready for Christmas! With the first prequel film still a few years away, the various Lucasfilm companies decided to to all-in on an entirely new original expanded story in the Star Wars universe taking place between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It would be told across several books, a graphic novel, and a video game. There would even be toys released featuring the new original characters created for the story. It would be called…Shadows of the Empire. If you were a fan of Star Wars, this is likely the best time for you to be a fan.

So welcome back to Gaming History You Should Know, where we highlight some of the biggest independently produced gaming documentaries across the web. Today, we are once again highlighting the great work of YouTube channel Saintmillion. He produced a nearly feature-length documentary about the entire Shadows of the Empire event, how it came to be, what took place during the story, and how it effected the entire Star Wars canon. Enjoy!

It’s really sad to know that after the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm, events from Shadows of the Empire are no longer acknowledged.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is out now for PC and Nintendo 64.
