The Midsummer Fantasy Renaissance Faire 2018 just wrapped up this past Sunday. It has been held at the Warsaw Park in Ansonia, CT for several years now and we have been attending them for quite a while. Unlike other Renaissance Faires that pride themselves on historical accuracy, the MFRF draws its inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien, Dungeons & Dragons, Final Fantasy, and even Pokémon.

We have previously reviewed MFRFs from 2015 and 2016. Upon popular request, we’re going to review this year’s event! Buckle in, because we’re going to be taking about almost every aspect of this year’s faire. That includes the event’s story, the acts, the food and the vendors! Enjoy!

Stay tuned for Part 2 where we talk about last Saturday night’s epic Fireworks Finale!

We’re pretty excited about the recent announcement of the arcade game Halo: Fireteam Raven. The interactive shoot “em up game will be exclusively offered in Dave and Buster’s arcades all across the US later this summer and will offer a one-hundred and thirty inch 4K screen.

Today, Microsoft announced they’ll be integrating gameplay and statistic tracking for Halo: Fireteam Raven with Xbox Live. That means Halo players with an active Xbox Live account will be able to link their account to their game each time they play. You can read all the details about how to link your arcade gameplay to your Halo Waypoint profile here. Essentially, you will need to log into your Xbox Live profile on a smart device, select Halo: Fireteam Raven from the Halo Waypoint Website, and scan your profile’s uniquely generated QR code when prompted by the arcade machine.

Halo: Fireteam Raven is coming later this summer exclusively to arcades.

You can download the update right now using your device’s Software Update feature or through iTunes. Depending on your device and what version of iOS your device is currently running your device will need to download about 250MB of data.

Gaming History You Should Know – The Gizmondo July 8, 2018

Welcome back to Gaming History You Should Know, our regular Sunday series where we highlight some of the best content across the web that covers gaming history. One of our favorite channels on YouTube is LGR, short for Lazy Game Reviews. They’re typically the first channel that comes up whenever I look up review for classic PC games from my youth, or closer looks into classic computers like the old IBM PCs.

In 2005, for about a split second, the retailer GameStop devoted a section on their website for a new handheld product called the Gizmondo. I had heard nothing but bad things about it back in the day, and almost as suddenly it appeared, it disappeared. What was it, what could it do that other handhelds of the time couldn’t, and why did it fail? LGR knows, and you should watch his video to get all the answers you need.

For what it was, the Gizmondo was an interesting experiment, but it remains only that. Thanks to LGR for this amazing video and if you want to see more, you can check out all of their great content here!
