A long time ago I asked the question just what had happened to Cyberpunk?  Formerly a staple of the video game genre in the late 90s, the industry had shifted back and forth over the console generations and Cyberpunk seemed to have been left in the dust.

Recently however, a new series of Cyberpunk games have been slowly returning to the forefront of new games.  It seems now like it hasn’t died, it’s just been reimagined for a whole new world with all new technological capabilities.

As the last game shown at the Ubisoft E3 2012 Media Briefing, Ubisoft started up by giving us a little history lesson.

With all that knowledge in mind, meet Aiden Pierce.

Wow, that was NOT the ending that was seen at the end of the Ubisoft Briefing.  At the end of the briefing, we saw the game’s perspective switch to what appeared to be another player.  His orders were to protect the protagonist.  As the camera panned out it looked as if more players were inside the city and they were there to help as well.  Then, everything went dark.

UPDATE:  Here is the complete uncut presentation.

UPDATE 2: Watch Dogs is coming in 2013.
