Xbox One August Update Released August 19, 2014

Xbox One players can expect a whole lot of new features coming to their consoles this week.  Microsoft has released the August Update to the Xbox One and is currently in the process of phasing the update out to all console players.  Along with the usual set of bug fixes, this update brings an entirely new feature to the console, the ability to purchase Xbox One content from your mobile phone.  I’ll let Major Nelson explain it.

Microsoft has also released an update version of the Xbox One Smartglass App, so make sure to download the update from your Smartphone’s App Store.

At the Pokémon World Championships this weekend, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company announced the newest Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Slowbro. Take a look.

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Pokémon Omega Ruby are coming November 2014 to the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS.

The Pokémon Company is holding the year’s biggest Pokémon Tournament this weekend in Washington D.C. The event is expected to host an incredible tournament of the best players in the world from the video game and trading card game as they try to be the very best like no one ever was.

If you’re interested in watching the event and can’t be in D.C. this weekend, the Pokémon World Championships will start their live stream tomorrow at 9AM ET on the Official Pokémon Twitch Channel.

Destiny Companion Updated For Destiny Launch August 15, 2014

The Destiny Companion Mobile App allowed Destiny players to keep track of their progress from their Smartphones during the game’s Beta. Today, Bungie has updated the app to fix a few bugs and make it compatible with the full version of Destiny when it releases.

You can download the Destiny Companion app to your Android or iOS device right now free of charge. If you already have the app downloaded, make sure to update it before you start playing the full version of the game.

Destiny is coming September 9th, 2014 to the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, and Playstation 3.

Download the P.T. Demo Right Now August 12, 2014

Sony has just released a brand new demo to the Playstation Store for Gamescom 2014. Dubbed “The World’s First Interactive Teaser” it looks like an entirely new way of marketing may be coming our way.

The P.T. demo is currently on the Playstation Store, although you may need to conduct a manual search to find it. The demo is free and weighs in at around 1.4GB.

Journey Announced for PS4 August 12, 2014

You read that right. Today, at Gamescom 2014, Sony has announced that the 2012 Game of the Year Contender is getting released on the Playstation 4.

Journey is out now on the PS3. It is coming soon to the PS4. Anyone who purchased the game digitally will be able to play it on multiple platforms at no additional charge.

Until Dawn Now Coming to Playstation 4 August 12, 2014

Until Dawn was first announced as a Playstation 3 horror title which would make full use of the Playstation Move control system. That was back at Gamescom 2012. At this year’s Gamescom, Sony announced Until Dawn would be coming to the Playstation 4, and it has never looked better.

If you’re wondering why the game looks so good, Sony’s PR people did mention the game is now using the same engine as the PS4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Until Dawn is coming exclusively to the Playstation 4.

inFAMOUS First Light Gamescom 2014 Trailer August 12, 2014

inFAMOUS First Light is a prequel story to the PS4 exclusive hit game inFAMOUS Second Son and tells the background story of Abagail “Fetch” Walker, a conduit with the power to control neon.

The game was first announced at this year’s E3, but at Sony’s Gamescom 2014 Press Briefing, we got a closer look at what is in store for Fetch. Give it a look.

Right after announcing the new Halo Channel, 343 Industries went right back on the Gamescom stage and have us the first details on the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta. Take a look.

The Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta is expected to launch December 29th, 2014 for Xbox One owners who pick up a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. I guess I know what I’ll be playing on New Years Eve.

In 2009, Microsoft released the Halo Waypoint on the Xbox 360. It was pegged as a one stop shop for the latest Halo information as well as a way for Halo players to keep track on their game progress and unlock further game features across all the Halo games. Today at Gamescom, Microsoft has announced an all new way to view Halo, the Halo Channel.

From the looks of this trailer, it looks like the channel is coming to Xbox One and Tablets.

Halo Channel is expected to launch in November 2014.
