If you asked me, I would tell you the last great game produced by 3D Realms was the 2006 PC and Xbox 360 game Prey. To me it was a perfectly polished first person game with new elements of gameplay we had not seen before.
Since then, I have waited for someone to step forward and make a sequel to that game. Then, after a failed attempt to make a sequel, Bethesda announced at E3 2016 they would be rebooting the franchise and refining it for a whole new console generation.
We’ve only seen minor bits and pieces of the game since it was first announced but tonight during The Game Awards 2016 we got this World Premiere of the new PREY. Enjoy.
PREY is coming in 2017 to PC, Xbox One and PS4.

There is no Nintendo game more anticipated than the next Zelda title and tonight The Game Awards 2016 hosted a live world premiere of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in two parts. Here is the first part, which was shown during the event’s preshow.

Neverwinter Nights Platinum Edition Free On GOG For 48 Hours December 1, 2016

Based on the Dungeons and Dragons pen-and-paper license, Neverwinter Nights was first developed by Bioware over a decade ago. Since then, it has been considered by many to be the baseline for the PC-RPG, and Bioware would go on to create incredible games like Knights of The Old Republic and Mass Effect.

Final Fantasy XV Out Now On Xbox One and PlayStation 4 November 29, 2016

This announcement has certainly been a long time coming. When it was first announced as Final Fantasy Versus XIII nearly a decade ago, it wowed gamers with its gameplay and presentation. One entire gaming generation passed with very little news about the project, but when we hit the beginning of the newest console generation, Square Enix proudly revealed that Final Fantasy Versus XIII would appear on the newest gaming consoles…only it would now be called Final Fantasy XV.
Today, I’m proud to announce the game is out on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4! Here’s the official launch trailer!

Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy XV Beverage Wiz Energizing Elixir for Sale Exclusively at Target Stores November 29, 2016

It’s rare when we see fictional items on sale in the real world but today, that will happen. Some of you may remember when Fallout 4 launched in the US, Target retailers exclusively offered a real world version of the iconic Fallout beverage Nuka-Cola for a limited time. It was an enormous promotion which turned the limited beverage into a collector’s item! Today, Target has begun selling the Final Fantasy XV health item Wiz Energizing Elixir in their stores for a limited time.
The beverage will be given free to anyone who picks up any version of Final Fantasy XV at Target while supplies last. It’s also for sale at a price of $2.99 US without a purchase of the game. If you want it get it now because this is a very limited run!

Tonight at midnight, Final Fantasy XV is getting released worldwide! To celebrate the release of the game, Square Enix aired this trailer during tonight’s airing of Supergirl. If you’re planning to pick the game up at launch you need to watch this!

A Look at Pokemon Sun and Moon Release Events at GameStop, Toys R Us and Target November 22, 2016

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon were released this past Friday and throughout this past weekend, GameStop, Toys R Us and Target stores across the US hosted major Pokémon events to celebrate. The stores were giving away a range of cool promo items including exclusive posters and TCG cards.

The Last Guardian – Cinematic Trailer November 20, 2016

A few years ago, a friend of mine and I played through the PS2 classic Ico together. I had missed out on it when it was first released over a decade ago but I made sure to pick it up when it was rereleased on the PS3 with Shadow of the Colossus. However, since the release of Shadow of the Colossus in 2005, gamers have been waiting a very long time for Team Ico’s next game, The Last Guardian.
Last night, I went to the movies with my girlfriend. Imagine my surprise to see this fantastic trailer before the feature film began.
The Last Guardian is coming December 6th, 2016 exclusively to the PS4.
Pokemon: The Animated Series Moving to Disney XD November 20, 2016

When Pokémon: The Animated Series first was broadcast in the United States, it aired on the now defunct WB Network during its Kids WB programming block. Over the past few years, the Pokémon animated series and its feature films have been shown on the basic cable channel Cartoon Network, but that is not going to be happening for much longer. I have an important announcement to reveal to fans of the Pokémon animated series in the US:
That’s right, Pokémon is moving to the digital cable channel Disney XD! On December 5th, 2016 Disney XD will broadcast the next major Pokémon movie, and following its premiere we will get a preview of the show’s next season.
If you ask me, I think this is a great decision. With the exception of new feature-film broadcasts, Cartoon Network never offered Pokémon a decent timeslot. Cartoon Network’s pre-Adult Swim schedule is dominated by shows like Teen Titans GO and The Secret World of Gumball, leaving little room for Pokémon. Heck, new episodes of the show would only air at the unforgivable time of 8am! That’s far too early for most adults, and far too late for kids who have to be ready early for school. It would have made more sense for them to show it again at a later time slot in the mid-afternoon. Here’s to hoping Disney XD offers Pokémon at more times.
I still have one curiosity about this major announcement I would like to mention here. The Disney XD Channel has been willing to experiment with broadcasting major gaming events like last year’s Nintendo World Championships, I wonder if they would be willing to broadcast a major Pokémon tournament next. If online streaming views are any indicator, they would probably get great Neilson ratings if they were finally broadcast on TV.
So make sure to catch all your Pokémon shows starting on December 5th on Disney XD.

Nowadays we take our digital broadcasts for granted when it comes to entertainment content. Those coaxial cables currently running throughout our houses can provide us all sorts of entertainment content ranging from HD Cable, High-Speed Internet or Satelite TV, provided we use the proper decoder or modem to make use of it. However, it didn’t always used to be that way.
As recently as two decades ago, those same coaxial lines could only carry analog video signals. While they typically didn’t need decoder boxes to function, there wasn’t a lot you could actually do with them. The original cable services were limited in a lot of ways. It couldn’t provide internet access just yet, so users who wanted internet would have to get it through their phone line at exceptionally slow speeds or have to pay for an expensive fiber service. Finally, analog picture quality could easily become distorted with interference and there were a lot of factors that could cause it.
In the early to mid 90s, Nintendo and Sega were fighting the 16-bit gaming war to a near standstill. However, both companies provided great products with quality exclusive games, making both companies successful. Then, riding the enormous success of the Genesis console, Sega announced the Sega Channel, a games-on-demand service offered through your cable provider! I’m not kidding, here’s the actual infomercial cable providers would broadcast to promote the service. I remember seeing it twenty years ago while I was cycling through TV channels and it blew my mind!
So that was just a tease for was offered to gamers through the Sega Channel in the mid-90s. Meanwhile, we’ve only had digital games-on-demand rental services for modern games within the past five years. I never used the Sega Channel service back in the day but I had a good friend at the time who did and I can attest that the service worked exactly as advertised. How was Sega able to do it?
If you’re like me, you’re probably wondering how the hell analog cable companies with so many technical limitations could offer such a robust service two decades ago! Heck, my local cable provider couldn’t even offer me high-speed internet until nearly half a decade after everyone else did, and yet my area had the Sega Channel in the 1990s! How was that possible?
I have been waiting quite a while for someone to produce an in-depth video about this service and the great guys over at Retro Game On finally answered that question. I hope you all enjoy this video as much as I did!
