A very festive hat has just appeared in Pokémon Go and trainers everywhere should be able to put it on their in-game avatars right now for free.

Simply open your in-game trainer menu and select the style option from the game. You’ll find the hat below in the hat menu. Just select it and put it on your trainer’s head by tapping on the choose button.

I have no idea how much longer Niantic is going to offer this hat so get it as soon as you can.

Starbucks Promoting Pokemon Go Lure-a-Thon October 22, 2017

I know tons of Pokémon Go trainers have been glued to their smart devices since Friday afternoon trying to catch some of the recently released GEN3 ghost type Pokémon or the special Pikachu wearing a witch hat.

Trainers know that successfully catching Pokémon requires in-game supplies like Pokéballs and berries, and because of that it is always a good idea to visit real-world Pokestops for those supplies.  Starbucks has already partnered with Niantic to turn their national chain of coffee shops into Pokestops and Pokémon Gyms, but they’re doing something extra special this Halloween.  They are going to activate a lure module every day for the entire time the Pokémon Go Halloween event is happening.  This should give players a better chance to catch and help them evolve the newest Pokémon!

Starbucks says their Pokestops will turn their lures on automatically at 3PM and turn off at 6PM every day the Halloween event is live.  I can personally attest this works, as I was in a Starbucks earlier today to see the lure module activate automatically.

If you’re as excited as me about this then don’t waste any time!  Go now because the Pokémon Go Halloween event will only last until Nov 2nd!

That’s right, special ghost-type Pokémon and a seasonal Pikachu will be in the wild during the Halloween event. The event begins tomorrow at 3PM EST and will go on until November 2nd.  If you need me, I’ll be at my local Poké Stop getting supplies for the event.

Nintendo has just released a major system update for the Nintendo Switch.  Everyone has been making a big deal about the system’s new profile transfer functionality, but Nintendo has one more trick up their sleeves, you can now capture in-game video and upload it online!  Here’s how it works:

Currently, the Switch’s video capture feature can only record up to 30 seconds of gameplay from four specific titles, and that gameplay can only be posted on services like Facebook and Twitter but this is a big start.  The four titles supported by this feature include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, and ARMS.  Hopefully, this functionality will be improved and expanded in time.

Gaming History You Should Know – The NES Loading Seam October 15, 2017

If you’re like me, you grew up playing the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and it’s incredible library of games.  My favorite game to play on that system was Super Mario Bros 3, a phenomenal side scroller with easy to learn controls and challenging levels.

However, if you play Super Mario Bros 3 on a modern TV, you may notice a weird glitched frame on the side of the screen. The first time I saw it I was concerned my tv or my game console was broken, but I quickly learned it was actually an integral part of the game, and eventually I learned to ignore it.

I’m sure many of you are curious what this seam is, and why it appears in a game like SMB3. Well, the great guys over at Retro Game Mechanics Explained did a great video about the phenomenon, and explain in great detail what this seam is and why it is appears in so many NES games.

Five Nights at Freddy’s Vs Ghostbusters October 15, 2017

They have defied gods and demons. They are our best, last and only line of defense. They are reasonably priced.  They are the Ghostbusters, and their job is to catch the ghosts who won’t stay dead.  Today, they may very well meet their match.

While Ghostbusters has been a very recognizable franchise, in comparison to other series like Star Wars, it hasn’t been seen as recognized for its fan contributions until more recently.

The guys over at Blue Core Studios, known for their Mega Man fanfilm, recently produced a truely inspired piece of fanfilm.  Freddie Fazbear’s Pizza has been suffering with supernatural issues every night. Odd noises and power issues happen every night and security guards have gone missing.  Who you gonna call?

The new update, iOS 11.0.3, fixes specific issues with Taptic feedback on iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus devices and fixes issues with iPhone 6s phones who have had their screens replaced by third party repair facilities.

You can download the update to your iOS 11 device right now using iTunes or your device’s internal software update feature.  Depending on your device and if you previously had the most recent version of iOS 11 installed, your update will require a download of about 250MB.
