Nintendo Switch Software Update 6.0.0 Released September 18, 2018

I’m sorry to say online multiplayer for games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 is now over. Nintendo has just released a major software update for the Nintendo Switch. This new update brings in the new premium Nintendo online service which offers 2-player online NES classic games, and cloud save backups. An updated Nintendo Network smartphone app has also been released on Apple’s App Store and Google Play to make use of the new premium features. Online multiplayer on the Nintendo Switch now costs $20US a year.
Since nobody else has asked it I guess I will. If Nintendo can offer this kind of service for $20 a year as well as offer something similar to Game Pass, what’s Sony and Microsoft’s excuse for charging $60 a year on top of other paid services like Game Pass or PlayStation Now?
Kingdom Hearts III Big Hero 6 TGS 2018 Extended Trailer September 18, 2018

As a child of the 90s, I grew up watching the films we now refer to as part of the Disney Renaissance and it was so heartwarming to experience these worlds myself when I played the first Kingdom Hearts games. However, over the past few years I feel that Disney has entered a new renaissance with their in-house animation studios producing hit after hit like Wreck it Ralph and Big Hero 6. These new classics are being used as the basis for all-new worlds in Kingdom Hearts III.
Today, Square Enix released an extended trailer for their take on the world of Big Hero 6, and if you hadn’t told me I would have believed it was a trailer for the sequel. Better turn the subtitles on because this trailer uses the original Japanese voice over.
Kingdom Hearts III is coming January 2019 to the Xbox One and PS4.

Apple has just released an enormous update for handheld devices. It adds a slew of new features such as enhanced AR, Memoji, Siri shortcuts, and a lot more. If you’re using an older Apple iPhone such as the 6, 7, 8 or X you’ll need to download the update through your device’s software update feature or iTunes. If you’re planning to get a new iPhone such as the XS, it will come with iOS 12 preinstalled.
The update can weigh in at around one and a half gigabytes, so make sure to free up some space on your phone before installing the update.
Happy Batman Day 2018 September 15, 2018

Happy Batman Day everyone! We are a little late to the punch but that is mostly due to the fact DC did very little promotion for this year’s event. In fact, had I not received an email from DC’s online store early this morning I never would have known today was Batman Day!
DC Comics have some promotions going on today throughout the web and at various retail stores in the US. First off the younger ones among us can check out the official Batman Day Website for an exclusive activity book. You can download it here. This website can also point you to local libraries across the country who are participating in the events.
Barnes and Noble Bookstores are also getting into the Batman Day spirit. They are offering a Buy 2 get 1 Free deal on select Batman graphic novels. They are also offering an exclusive comic for free to anyone who asks. For adults they have a special issue of Batman: White Knight, and children will be able to participate in activity events and get a different free comic. Best to ask your local store for details and see if they got any of the free comics before heading over.
Other stores online and at retail are discounting Batman merchandise and collectibles today including GameStop and Hot Topic.
Many New and Classic Final Fantasy Games are Coming to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch September 14, 2018

Earlier in the week we reported the happy news that the GameCube classic Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was being remastered in HD and would be coming to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch next year. It turns out that announcement is just the tip of the iceberg. The PS4 has always been the go-to console Square Enix has used to present many of its classic games into this generation. Now, Square has revealed many of the Final Fantasy games that were previously PS4 exclusive, such as Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and more are coming to other consoles by next year.
The first game on the list to be coming out is Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition for the Nintendo Switch. That is out right now, and you can also get it on PS4, Xbox One and Smartphones.
World of Final Fantasy Maxima is an updated version of the spin off game World of Final Fantasy. It is coming to all console platforms and PC in November. Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Everybody! is a new Mystery Dungeon style game with a two-player cooperative option. That’s coming to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch this Winter.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles HD is coming with full online multiplayer to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 next year. I can’t decide which platform I want to get this game on! Do I stay true to the game’s roots and get it for the Switch or do I get it for the PS4 since all my other Final Fantasy games are on the PS4?
Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age are coming to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2019. You can already get them on the PS4 and PC.
I just want to know one thing, where the heck is Final Fantasy VIII?

I always regretted missing out on the original Luigi’s Mansion game when it was released back on the GameCube. Luigi’s Mansion 2 was one of the reason I decided to buy a Nintendo 3DS handheld back in 2012. Now, Nintendo has announced Luigi’s Mansion 3 is coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 is coming in 2019 exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.

PS4 System Software Update 6.00 Released September 13, 2018

Anyone who tries logging into the PlayStation Network today will notice they are unable to do so. Sony has just released a new System Software for the PlayStation 4, version 6.00. The new update, despite being an incremental version number over the previous version, adds no new features and only lists nonspecific bug fixes.
If you’re planning to update your console through it’s software update feature, you’ll only need a 450MB download to begin the update process. You will not be able to sign into the PlayStation Network unless you update your console.
