Lost Media – Star Trek: My Experience January 20, 2022

In 1998, Star Trek: The Experience opened at the Las Vegas Hilton. Even thirty years later it was a venue that major theme parks are still playing catch up to. It closed in 2008. In 2010, a REFERENCE-QUALITY documentary about the history of Star Trek: The Experience was published on the (now defunct) website Blip. It was called Star Trek: My Experience and was created by Vernon Wilmer, a former cast member and megafan.
In 2012, Blip was purchased by Disney and shut down. All content hosted on it that was not archived was lost. Among the lost content was Mr. Wilmer’s incredible documentary which to this day has not been reposted online.
Here’s a video with my thoughts about the documentary and a plea to Mr. Wilmer for its return. Enjoy.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus Official Preview Video January 14, 2022

It’s just a matter of weeks until Game Freak releases a major new game in the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Legends: Arceus. In this prequel game you will take control of one of the first Pokémon trainers in the Sinnoh region.
However, other than a trailer and some screenshots we haven’t seen very much of the game leading up to release. That ended this week as Nintendo and Game Freak released this official preview video. Take a look!
I wish the preview had been longer, or we had seen this preview earlier and more previews were still to be released. The gameplay is entirely different from any of the Pokémon games we’ve seen before, and that can be a good thing. Movement and gameplay appear to be in real-time. Oh, and I’m so happy to see there will be quests! This reminds me of playing an MMO, except in single-player and that suits me just fine.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is coming January 28th, 2022 exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.

This should be a lighter evening. There doesn’t seem to be corresponding updates for the Apple Watch or Apple TV
Gaming History You Should Know – Video Game Lost Media January 9, 2022

It’s Sunday, and that means it’s time for us to once again discuss Gaming History You Should Know. Recently, I’ve been impressed by the deep documentaries produced by YouTube Channels like BlameitonJorge and All Things Lost, where they have gone into deep searches for obscure media. In fact, we even did our own lost media search last week. However, I’m sure you’ve seen that there have been much more of video game related content that is considered lost. This title can be bestowed on content that has either been finished and withheld from release or released before the opportunity for archiving
First off, we’re going to highlight one of the biggest franchises in the world, Pokémon. Due to the fact it has been releasing games, movies, toys, television shows and spin-off games for twenty-five years. YouTube Channel PaPaSec has created what is probably one of the tightest videos I’ve seen about the most well-known Pokémon lost media. Check it out!
Next up, we’re going to highlight the work of the adorable YouTube Channel Sakura Stardust. In this video, she talks about some of the most obscure lost Pokémon media. How obscure is some of this? I’ve been following Pokémon for years and I hadn’t even HEARD of some of this stuff. Enjoy.
Moving on from Pokémon, let’s talk about another classic game franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog. YouTube Channel All Things Lost, one of the best Lost Media channels on the web, has us covered. He highlights some of the lost media and incomplete Sonic games that have not been archived. Sonic X-Treme is not featured, as it has been found.
So that was just the tip of the iceberg for some video game content that is currently considered lost. I’m sure in the future we will have another article like this, so until next time, Happy New Year!
The First Minute of Internet Legends: Duct Tape Gamer January 8, 2022

Last year, we broadcasted the news that a full-length documentary was being created to discover the history behind one of the internet’s first meme, the gamer that was duct taped to the ceiling during a LAN Party. Now, if you’re too young to remember what a LAN Party was, don’t worry about it. Needless to say, it was a huge part of 90s PC and early Xbox gaming culture.
Since the trailer was revealed, we hadn’t heard very much about the full documentary’s progress until earlier this week. The documentary‘s director, Tyler Knowles, published its first minute, and provided a status update. Take it away, Tyler.
Internet Legends: Duct Tape Gamer will be released on YouTube for free later this year.
E3 2022 Will Be Virtual January 8, 2022

The Electronic Entertainment Expo has officially announced that their 2022 E3 event will once again be virtual. This will mark the third year no E3 event has taken place in a physical location, and all announcements from the event will once again be broadcasted over the web.
E3 has always held a special place in my heart since I first heard about it in 1999. To be allowed into E3 was a sign you had “made it” in the gaming industry, and it had been considered a high honor for your game to be previewed at the event. However, the current world events have made international travel a dicey prospect.
We will keep you all posted with the details on how to check out the event online as they are made available.
