Miitomo Smartphone App Being Discontinued May 9th January 25, 2018

Nintendo’s first official steps into producing smartphone applications for platforms they didn’t create themselves were in the form of the apps Miitomo and Super Mario Run. While Super Mario Run has gone on to win several “Best Smartphone Game” awards since it was released on iPhone and Android platforms, Miitomo was left as a forgotten piece of software on most smartphone’s download history. Today, Nintendo has officially announced Miitomo is being discontinued and service will end on May 9th, 2018.

I remember being very interested in Miitomo when it first launched. The concept of having a social media application that used my Mii avatar was interesting at first. However, in practice as a social application it was kind of redundant since I could use my device to communicate with my friends without the application using hundreds of other means. In fact, I think the only reason I used it was to earn extra Platinum Points in the My Nintendo reward service.

Once ended, the Miitomo app will no longer function. However, Nintendo does assure players that any Platinum Points players earn while the app is functioning will carry over to My Nintendo until the app is discontinued.

The newest entry in the God of War franchise was first announced at E3 several years ago, and it has been highly anticipated ever since. After Kratos destroyed Olympus and the Greek Gods at the end of God of War 3, this new game looked to be inspired by an entirely new pantheon of Gods. On top of that, it appears Kratos now has something to care about, a son.

Today, I’m happy to announce Sony has revealed the official release date for the first game in the God of War series made exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and show this all-new story trailer, enjoy!

God of War is coming April 20th, 2018 exclusively on PS4.

We are back with another How-To video directed at our 4KTV readers.

The Xbox One X and PS4 consoles support High-Dynamic Range Color on supported televisions. Our Samsung 4KTV supported HDR color, but the feature wasn’t listed as fully supported when setting up the Xbox One X.

Rather than write off support for the feature as something I would have needed to pay more money for, or something that would need a future software update I went through every setting in my Samsung TV until I got HDR enabled. How did I do it, and how can you do it? Watch this:

I’ll just let this video speak for itself.

It looks like LABO is going to be Nintendo’s next step for world domination. Combining the capabilities of the Switch with creativity of DIY papercraft, there may be nothing holding back players from creating anything from their imaginations.

Nintendo LABO is coming April 2018 exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.
