We’ve been talking about Detective Pikachu for the past few days over on this site, and that is because we’ve been having a blast playing it. The game even includes support for a special Detective Pikachu amiibo, which can unlock special videos called “Pika Prompts” that players may have missed in chapters of the game they already completed.
This is no mere amiibo, Detective Pikachu is large and very well designed. Let’s take a closer look at it with an unboxing and show how it works!
Detective Pikachu is out now exclusively for Nintendo 3DS systems.
Get Legendary Pokemon Raiku or Entai From Target Stores Later This Month April 3, 2018

Today, The Pokémon Company has finally announced how they will be distributing this month’s legendary Pokémon Raiku and Entai. Take a look:
Retail store Target will distribute codes for the event on during the last week of April. No further details have been given, including exactly WHERE Target customers should be expected to go to find the codes.
I understand The Pokémon Company wants to give trainers a little challenge when distributing these legendary Pokémon, but this is a little ridiculous. GameStop stores are smaller and have an easy to find staff briefed on store promotions. In my experience, Target stores are huge and employ lots of people, many of which will likely not get briefed on the event. Which isle will customers need to look to find the codes? Who will we have to talk to that may know what is going on? We will have to find out for ourselves starting on April 22nd.
Pokémon Sun, Pokémon Moon, Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon are out now exclusively on Nintendo 3DS systems.

I just wanted to give you all a heads up about something you may have missed out on. The Pokémon Company and Amazon have partnered to offer a free prequel story to the new 3DS game Detective Pikachu. The specific free story is called Detective Pikachu Episode 0: Eevee’s Case and it is published by The Pokémon Company.
If you’re not a Kindle owner, it may take some wrangling to get this story for yourself, despite the fact that it is free. As of the time of this post, Kindle purchases can only be made on the Amazon.com website, and cannot be made through a smart device’s Amazon app. You’ll also need the Kindle app on a Kindle-enabled device like the iPhone to read the story once it is added to your account.
We may end up reviewing the story in the future but for now, if you’re a Kindle user interested in Detective Pikachu, you should give it a look!

Research is Live in Pokemon Go March 31, 2018

As promised, Niantic has activated a major update for Pokémon Go this weekend. They have enabled an all new in-game feature, the ability to do Pokémon research.

That’s right, players will now be able to help out Professor Willow by performing specific in game tasks. Here’s an example of some tasks you’ll need to perform to earn in-game rewards.

You’ll be able to perform two types of tasks with the new research feature, special and field. Special tasks will activate immediately, and you’ll get a new set of tasks every time you complete the old set. As you can see, special tasks can range from catching a certain amount of Pokémon to hatching a certain amount of eggs. You’ll earn field tasks from Pokestops, and your profile will be able to hold a maximum of three field tasks at any given time. You earn a stamp if you complete a field task (on top of whatever bonus you get from completing the task), but you’ll only be able to earn one per day. Typical field tasks include catching a certain amount of specific Pokémon, participating a raid, or battling in a Gym. It looks like you’ll collect some kind of reward for collecting seven stamps, but its unclear what that reward is.
One last thing I wanted to bring up. Has anyone noticed many of the in-game icons for GEN1 Pokémon are looking a little low-resolution today? In fact they look almost identical to the way Pokémon looked on the April Fool’s Google Maps event for a few years ago? I think the same team that did that event now runs Pokémon Go, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if it was the same icons.
Pokémon Go is out now on Android and iOS Smartphones.
