Maniac and Princess Angel were honored to attend ConnectiCon 2018 this past weekend at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT. While not all of the video and photos we took at the event have been uploaded, we were able to get some of the content we produced at the show online. Let’s take a closer look at some of it, shall we?

First off, we need to share with you a closer look at the convention space itself. If you’d like to see how big this year’s convention was, we brought a T-Rex with us to walk the floor and take some pictures with guests. Enjoy.

Next up, we’re going to show you an example of what it’s like to attend a celebrity panel. The legendary Jon St John, best known as the voice of Duke Nukem in Duke Nukem 3D and Duke Nukem Forever, was at the 2018 ConnectiCon and attended several panels and even free autograph signings. Here’s a snippet from a special private panel where he talks about how he got the role of Duke Nukem and what it’s meant for his career.

Art The Hypnotist is another long standing ConnectiCon celebrity guest. He is known for his ability to mesmerize a crowd to make them do his bidding, all for our entertainment. In this clip, we see him get a crowd of previously hypnotized people to perform a song and dance number of Gotta Catch Em All, the theme to the Pokémon television series.

Finally, we got something really special for you all. If you’re going to attend a ConnectiCon, either now or in the future the one special event you MUST attend is the DeathMatch on Saturday. Hosted by Mookie, the DeathMatch is a mix of role-play and audience participation. In it, costumed characters are pitted against each other two by two. While they cannot speak, each must look for the approval of the massive crowd. The winner (based on audience applause), defeats their opponent and moves on to the next round. The loser gets taken by the zombies.

How big is the event? Here’s some footage of its opening, and the lineup of participants in this year’s event. Take a look!

Congratulations to the 2018 DeathMatch winner, Jackie Chan.

We are still going through a lot of the raw videos and photographs we took of the event, so you’ll have to bear with us and wait patiently for more of our content from the event. Tickets for ConnectiCon 2019 are now on sale.

Pokémon Go Fest 2018 has wrapped and rewards from the event are live in Pokémon Go until July 23rd. Trainers will find Pokémon Eggs will hatch in half the distance it usually takes (provided incubation starts during the promotion), and double candy is being awarded for caught and hatched Pokémon. Also, a special Summer variant Pikachu is out in the wild and should turn up in higher frequency all over the place. Trainers playing Pokémon Go will not need to do anything special to make use of these rewards.

Now’s the perfect time to get back to hatching your eggs. If you’re like me, you’ve probably changed the batteries on your Pokémon Go Plus.

Pokémon Go is out now for Android and iOS SmartPhones/Tablets.

Do I really need to post anything else here? You’ve got Nathan Fillion, the star of Firefly and Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, playing Nathan Drake in an Uncharted fanfilm. Give yourself a fifteen minute break and watch it now!

After years of false starts, incorrect assumptions, and poorly hired directors, I can say that finally, there’s someone in Hollywood that actually “gets” Uncharted.

The Midsummer Fantasy Renaissance Faire 2018 just wrapped up this past Sunday. It has been held at the Warsaw Park in Ansonia, CT for several years now and we have been attending them for quite a while. Unlike other Renaissance Faires that pride themselves on historical accuracy, the MFRF draws its inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien, Dungeons & Dragons, Final Fantasy, and even Pokémon.

We have previously reviewed MFRFs from 2015 and 2016. Upon popular request, we’re going to review this year’s event! Buckle in, because we’re going to be taking about almost every aspect of this year’s faire. That includes the event’s story, the acts, the food and the vendors! Enjoy!

Stay tuned for Part 2 where we talk about last Saturday night’s epic Fireworks Finale!

We’re pretty excited about the recent announcement of the arcade game Halo: Fireteam Raven. The interactive shoot “em up game will be exclusively offered in Dave and Buster’s arcades all across the US later this summer and will offer a one-hundred and thirty inch 4K screen.

Today, Microsoft announced they’ll be integrating gameplay and statistic tracking for Halo: Fireteam Raven with Xbox Live. That means Halo players with an active Xbox Live account will be able to link their account to their game each time they play. You can read all the details about how to link your arcade gameplay to your Halo Waypoint profile here. Essentially, you will need to log into your Xbox Live profile on a smart device, select Halo: Fireteam Raven from the Halo Waypoint Website, and scan your profile’s uniquely generated QR code when prompted by the arcade machine.

Halo: Fireteam Raven is coming later this summer exclusively to arcades.

A minor update has been released for Apple iDevices today. The new update, iOS 11.4.1 is available for all iOS 11-powered iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch portables. Lots of new bug fixes are in place, including an important Exchange mail update and fixes the ability to find lost AirPods using the Find My iPhone app.

However, those minor bug fixes are probably not the reason you should download the iOS update right now. The new update also includes a security feature which will prevent illegal defeat devices from breaking through your phone’s security without your password.

You can download the update right now using your device’s Software Update feature or through iTunes. Depending on your device and what version of iOS your device is currently running your device will need to download about 250MB of data.
