Preorder Stories – DOOM 3 May 6, 2020

The common wisdom in gaming these days is DON’T preorder. The reasoning behind this wisdom is due to the wave of recent releases that lack quality, stability or even fun. However, there was a time when preordering was actually a good thing. Between 2004 and 2018, there were tons of awesome reasons to preorder a game, and (unlike the inconsistent times we find ourselves in) preordering meant you would actually be guaranteed to get that game and possibly a special extra surprise.

Welcome to an entirely new series for GameXcess.net, Preorder Stories! We’re going to show some of the coolest and most unique preorder items from our collection and share them with all of you.

Today’s video we will be talking about the PC classic DOOM 3, one of the most anticipated releases of its time. Did you know that three major retailers offered the game for preorder, and to entice players, each one offered a different high quality pewter figurine to anyone who was able to get one? Let’s take a closer look at what was being offered and what it took to get one.
