Rare/Weird Things I Own – Plasm #0 December 6, 2022

Welcome back to the next video where we highlight some of the weirdest and/or rarest items from my vast collection. I know this may not be video game related, but if events had happened differently it could have been. Comic historians from long ago remember the name Jim Shooter. After leaving Marvel, he started his own studio, Defiant Comics, and attempted to create their own comic universe. However, to get their new properties out there they would be doing some very novel ideas the established publishers never considered.
Defiant’s flagship series would be Warriors of Plasm, and in the case of their Zero issue (Ed Note – it was the 90s, number Zero issues were a huge deal) it was released as a trading card pack. If you collected all the cards and laid them out in a 3X3 binder, it would produce a full comic that laid the foundation for the Plasm universe. Unfortunately, Defiant would not last and most people don’t remember Plasm at all. However, we do, and we have a (nearly) complete Plasm #0 with its official binder. It has been sitting in my closet for twenty years. Now, you can see it for yourself.
Jim Shooter is welcome to reach out to us 24/7 to explain himself.

Apple has just released an incremental update for the iPhone line of phones. The new update, iOS 16.1.2 promises to include the much anticipated improvements to the crash detection feature on iPhone 14.
The new update should weigh in at around 350MB. It is possible this update could only have come to the iPhone 14 line of devices as there doesn’t appear to be an Apple Watch update at this time.

If you’re looking for something to watch this Thanksgiving, look no further than the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Turkey Day Marathon. An annual tradition where a bunch of people trapped in space (with their robots) are forced to watch bad movies and riff on them. For many nerds, this is the most important part of the holiday tradition. The feed will be broadcast all day until late night.

Recently, we reported on iiRcade selling out their preorder allotment of Gold model home arcade machines. Now it seems the iiRcade Gold is back in stock, and it is on sale for Black Friday. So here’s a post-script to that news with a new video.
We typically reserve gaming news for written articles here on this site, but recently we’ve experimenting with reporting on news as videos. Given how quickly news seems to change, we may be stopping this practice moving forward. Post a comment below with your thoughts.
G4 Has Stopped Broadcasting (Again) November 20, 2022

To me, there was no greater channel ever broadcast than G4…in its original three years. After it was merged with TechTV in 2005 and became managed by corporate idiots, the channel was essentially ruined. It limped along with pathetic ratings for the next few years until finally ending in 2012, and ceasing broadcasts in 2013. However, it was essentially replaced by nothing. No traditional television channels in the US focused on gaming content, and despite a few attempts by channels like SpikeTV (now Paramount Network), most gaming content and news would be relegated to online streaming.
Last year, G4’s old talent announced the channel would be returning in full force. They announced it…on an online stream. Months later, the channel finally began broadcasting. The problem was, once again, nobody watched it. Unfortunately, the new G4 offered really nothing new of substance. The majority of their “new” shows were comprised of edited episodes of Scott the Woz and Viva La Dirt League, two shows that could already be watched unedited on YouTube. Its new talent was not very compelling, and the returning old talent came off as a generation behind the times. There was also no way to watch its shows or content through Video-On-Demand (VOD), so if you wished to watch content missed after its initial broadcast you would either need to save it on your DVR or hope it would get reposted on their YouTube channel. Eventually, the majority of the staff was fired, and not long after that, the remaining staff was let go as well. This did not bode well for the future of the channel.
On November 14th, G4TV ceased broadcasting (again). To show the channel out, a commercial-free marathon of the network’s post-2005 highlights were broadcast for 48-hours. While I spent a lot of time on this website slamming its post-TechTV era, seeing a “Best of” that era was quite heartwarming.
RIP G4, again.
Migrating To A New Nintendo Switch Can Affect Clock Based Events in Pokémon Sword and Shield – Here’s How to Fix It November 19, 2022

Pokémon Trainers who plan to upgrade to a brand-new Nintendo Switch can only transfer their Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield save game using ONE method, the Switch’s built in System Transfer option. However, even after that is done successfully, Sword and Shield can sometimes flag a legit transfer as a system clock manipulation and lock out users from accessing time-based events. Here’s how it happened to me, why it’s doing that and what to do about it.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
