In a whole new type of Let’s Play for this website, Maniac is joined by his good friend Twitch as they play the first hour of the independent game Gone Home.

Maniac has never played Gone Home before, but he had heard good things about it. Twitch had played Gone Home on the Mac and did not enjoy it. So, how will these two men handle playing this game together on the PS4?  Let’s find out!

Gone Home is out now for PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One.

GameStop Now Distributing Mythical Pokemon Darkrai Until May 24th May 2, 2016

Attention all Pokémon Trainers living in the US. GameStop has confirmed they have begun distributing codes for the mythical Pokèmon Darkrai.

You can obtain a code by going into any GameStop location between now and May 24th and asking for one. If the store still has them in stock, it will be given to you free of charge.  From there you can redeem the code from your game’s Mystery Gift menu.  Take a look and see for yourselves how powerful this Pokémon is.

The gift codes work on any copy of Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.  Just make sure your game and system are connected to the Internet and updated to their latest version before attempting to redeem them.

If you don’t have access to a WiFi connection to redeem your code, I recommend checking out a place with a Nintendo Zone hotspot. Usually you’ll find free WiFi for your Nintendo handheld in McDonald’s, Best Buy and Barnes and Noble locations across the US.  The codes only work once, so make sure to redeem it on the specific game you need it most!  You must redeem your code before August 31st, 2016.

Next month, Nintendo will be distributing the Mythical Pokémon Manaphy through the Nintendo Network, and that means no codes will be needed to get it!

Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokèmon Alpha Sapphire are out now exclusively for Nintendo 3DS systems.

Wii U Legend of Zelda Game Also Coming to Nintendo NX April 27, 2016

The next major Legend of Zelda game has been an elusive title. It was first previewed on the Wii U several years ago but has been delayed on several different occasions.  Today, it is my unfortunate duty to inform you all that the game has been delayed again, but that there is one more important piece of information to go with this delay announcement.

Earlier today, Nintendo confirmed that their next console, currently called the Nintendo NX, would be released in March 2017. Now we know that the the same Legend of Zelda game that is coming to the Wii U will also be released for the Nintendo NX.

To me, this seems like an unfortunate side effect of continuous delays.  This is also not the first time something like this has happened to a Legend of Zelda game. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was originally intended for release on the GameCube, but its continual delays forced the game to get a simutanous release on the GameCube and the (then) newly released Wii.  This didn’t hurt fans that much, as it was a great game.  While I’m convinced that Nintendo will release a great Zelda game eventually, it is upsetting to hear about constant delays on such an anticipated product.

More information will be coming when the game is previewed later this year at the Electronic  Entertainment Expo.

The next Legend of Zelda game is coming in 2017 to the Wii U and Nintendo NX.

The Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta has been opened for all Xbox One equipped Xbox Live Gold Members to download. It’s only a 7GB download and it rewards players able to make it to Rank 20 before the beta period ends.

We tried to do a live stream of the game earlier today but we suffered numerous technical issues during the broadcast, including issues connecting to matchmaking.  Once we were able to get back in, we decided to record this footage, and provide an overview of our initial thoughts. If you’re on the fence about checking this game out, give the video below a look.

Gears of War 4 is coming October 2016 exclusively on the Xbox One.

Xbox One owners with Xbox Live Gold accounts really need to read this. Now that Quantum Break is out, the next major Xbox One exclusive game expected to release this year is Gears of War 4.

Currently, Microsoft is hosting a closed multiplayer beta test for Gears of War 4 on the Xbox One.  It was only for early players of Gears of War Ultimate Edition on the Xbox One and PC. Today, that restriction is being lifted and Xbox One owners should be able to download it for themselves.  The Gears of War 4 beta is scheduled to be made open for download at 10 AM Pacific Time.

You must have an Xbox One and an active Xbox Live Gold subscription to participate in the Gears of War 4 open beta.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Slightly Delayed April 22, 2016

I first played the original Mirror’s Edge on the PS3 back in March of 2009. I found it to be a unique title with an incredible art style and mind bending gameplay. After most mainstream game critics let the title pass by without leaving much of a footnote, I never thought EA would release another Mirror’s Edge game…and then a new game was announced at E3 2013 and all was well.

However the game has not been without its delays, it was original scheduled to be published in February, but it was pushed back to a May release. Well, I’m sorry to say that EA has decided to delay the release of the game for another month.

Honestly, this news doesn’t bother me. The first Mirror’s Edge title was a fun game, but it suffered from occasional clipping issues and it could become difficult to navigate certain areas while under fire. This new title is entirely open world, allowing players to navigate an entire city without the need of boundaries. That makes it even more ambitious than the first, and probably requires a lot more testing!

If you don’t believe me when I say how ambitious this game looks, just take a look at this recent development diary about the game’s social component.

If you just can’t wait for the game’s release I’ve got some great news for you all. We will be posting a preview from the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Closed Beta later today with our candid reactions.  Stay tuned to this site for that!

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is coming June 7th, 2016 to the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
