Due to an abundance of caution and a concern over public safety in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tokyo Game Show 2020 has been cancelled. The event was one of the biggest trade shows in Japan and was intended to provide the public hands-on gameplay for upcoming titles.

The organizers have said they intend to move their major reveals online, and will stream live video of many of the important panels they had scheduled for this year.

Welcome back to Preorder Stories, where we highlight some of the most unique and coolest preorder incentives in gaming history.

Back in 2003, the very first Star Wars: Battlefront game was released on the PC. People who preordered it online received an action figure in its packaging I have not been able to find much information about. Take a look and see if you recognize it.

I know we missed our chance to post this on May the Fourth, but to me every day is Star Wars Day.

Star Wars: Battlefront is out on multiple platforms.

We all know Microsoft’s next console will be out by this Christmas, but we haven’t seen much in the field of what games we can expect or what the games developed for it will look like. Today, Microsoft revealed the first gameplay coming to the Xbox Series X.

Microsoft promises they will do a new preview of the Xbox Series X every month. Most of the games we saw in this video are going to take advantage of Smart Delivery, which will enable a game that is purchased for the Xbox One to seamlessly enable a native Xbox Series X version.

All games shown will be coming to the Xbox Series X.

The common wisdom in gaming these days is DON’T preorder. The reasoning behind this wisdom is due to the wave of recent releases that lack quality, stability or even fun. However, there was a time when preordering was actually a good thing. Between 2004 and 2018, there were tons of awesome reasons to preorder a game, and (unlike the inconsistent times we find ourselves in) preordering meant you would actually be guaranteed to get that game and possibly a special extra surprise.

Welcome to an entirely new series for GameXcess.net, Preorder Stories! We’re going to show some of the coolest and most unique preorder items from our collection and share them with all of you.

Today’s video we will be talking about the PC classic DOOM 3, one of the most anticipated releases of its time. Did you know that three major retailers offered the game for preorder, and to entice players, each one offered a different high quality pewter figurine to anyone who was able to get one? Let’s take a closer look at what was being offered and what it took to get one.

More Preorder Stories are coming! Be sure to post a comment below if you like the series and want to see more episodes!

More great news coming out on this May the fourth. Sony has officially announced that the VR game Vader Immortal, which has previously been considered an Oculus-VR exclusive game, will be coming to PSVR. The game pits you against the legendary Darth Vader, as you participate in a canonical story in the Star Wars universe.

I cannot tell you how happy I am to see this game is coming to the PlayStation. Oculus headsets that supported this game, be they standalone or PC-connected, are quite expensive.

The PSVR version of Vader Immortal will contain all three episodes of the game bundled together for one price. I will probably pick this game up on day one.

Vader Immortal is out now for Oculus VR. It is coming this summer to PSVR.
