We are back with a new episode of Preorder Stories, where our host Maniac talks about some of the coolest and most unique preorder games in history. Today, we’ll be talking about BioWare’s original PC opus, Neverwinter Nights.
Neverwinter Nights was one of the first PC titles we can recall that had a launch price of $60 US, but gamers were not concerned about it. BioWare had already created some of the best PC RPGs of its day and expectations for this game were high. To preorder, Best Buy offered an empty box campaign (similar to what they would later offer for DOOM 3) for $10 US. However, they weren’t going to be selling you an empty box, or a box full of stuff you had no interest in. If you preordered Neverwinter Nights you would get more than exclusive box and poster, you would get a CD-ROM loaded with some incredible goodies. Let’s take a closer look.
BioWare would later go on to create Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect, two games that proved complex PC RPGs could work on a console. Maybe we will talk about them again in a future video.
Neverwinter Nights is out now exclusively for the PC.

Welcome back to Preorder Stories, where we highlight some of the most unique and coolest preorder incentives in gaming history.
Back in 2003, the very first Star Wars: Battlefront game was released on the PC. People who preordered it online received an action figure in its packaging I have not been able to find much information about. Take a look and see if you recognize it.
I know we missed our chance to post this on May the Fourth, but to me every day is Star Wars Day.
Star Wars: Battlefront is out on multiple platforms.

The common wisdom in gaming these days is DON’T preorder. The reasoning behind this wisdom is due to the wave of recent releases that lack quality, stability or even fun. However, there was a time when preordering was actually a good thing. Between 2004 and 2018, there were tons of awesome reasons to preorder a game, and (unlike the inconsistent times we find ourselves in) preordering meant you would actually be guaranteed to get that game and possibly a special extra surprise.
Welcome to an entirely new series for GameXcess.net, Preorder Stories! We’re going to show some of the coolest and most unique preorder items from our collection and share them with all of you.
Today’s video we will be talking about the PC classic DOOM 3, one of the most anticipated releases of its time. Did you know that three major retailers offered the game for preorder, and to entice players, each one offered a different high quality pewter figurine to anyone who was able to get one? Let’s take a closer look at what was being offered and what it took to get one.
