The next Alan Wake game is launching on Wednesday, and to celebrate the imminent release, Remedy has uploaded the game’s official launch trailer for the game.  It does a fantastic job to setting up the story of the game and its new theme, which is obviously inspired by series like The Twilight Zone, and if you listen closely you can enjoy a little bit of the music for the new game’s soundtrack!

And for those who may have missed it, here’s the third developer diary for the game, once again being done by Ozz, Matias (who I met at last year’s E3) and Sam Lake.  They’re not alone however, keep your eyes peeled for a cameo by someone very important to the new game!

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is launching Feb 22nd, 2012 exclusive to Xbox Live Arcade.

Xbox 360 Color Issues Update Released February 16, 2012

Since the recent Fall Update (2011), there have been many online 360 users that have been complaining to Microsoft that there were issues with color vibrancy with third-party video apps used by the Xbox 360.  During beta testing the issues, they claim, were mostly ignored or swept under the rug.  When the update released and many more Live users noticed the problem, Microsoft promised they would fix the issue, and today, they have released a required update which lists a fix to color issues as part of its patch notes.

According to the details of the update, the third-party programs may need to be updated in order for full color compatibility, and that may take some time.  From what I heard, people were complaining about this issue in programs like Netflix, but oddly did not have such an issue with Microsoft’s Zune program.

You will be automatically notified about the update upon initial login to Xbox Live.  The patch is required for Live access.

Playstation 3 Firmware 4.11 Released February 16, 2012

A not yet required release has quietly been phased into the Playstation 3 update program in the form of Firmware Update 4.11.  When I say quietly I mean very quietly, there is no notification of the update during Playstation Network login.  The only way you would know the update was there would be to check the Firmware Update program manually.  No patch notes were included with the update, so it is unclear what, if anything the update is supposed to do or fix.

From what I have researched, the firwmare is not required to access the Playstation Network in the United States, but it is required to use the Playstation Network in other nations.

The first and second developer diaries for Alan Wake’s American Nightmare have been posted up by Remedy.  In this roundtable discussion by Ozz, Matias, and Sam Lake, they talk about how the style of this game differs from the previous one, and what you can expect with the new game.

Hearing them talk about the new inspiration for the games is quite interesting because it makes one wonder if they will change the inspration again for any further Alan Wake games, and where will that inspriation come from.

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is coming Feb 22nd, 2012 exclusive to Xbox Live Arcade.

The Playstation Network has been taken offline today for a scheduled 18 hours of downtime. The service is sheduled to resume at 12AM PST.

This means that you will not be able to access the Playstation Store, play online, or access online services like Global Resistance. You may also get login errors, but they are nothing to be concerned about, your accounts are not banned or blocked.

Okay seriously, this is the second time in less than a month that Sony has done this, and since they did it last time, Global Resistance logins have been taken down randomly on a pretty frequent basis.
