Remedy Games Changes Name to Poison Pill Entertainment May 30, 2024

I noticed an odd move that seems…strangely in line with the motives of a unique independent game studio. Remedy Games, responsible for the incredible titles Max Payne, Quantum Break, Control, and Alan Wake II, has changed its name to Poison Pill Entertainment. A new company logo is now being used, changing the current Remedy “R” graphic to a similar in style “P” graphic.

No official announcement has been made of the studio’s rebranding, however their X (formerly Twitter) and Discord profiles have been updated with the new company name and logo. However, I would like to reference the timing as we are mere hours away from the release of the next PlayStation Showcase. Perhaps we will see some news from that event that could shed some light on this change.

Alan Wake II is out now for multiple platforms including PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you The Watcher.

As a Vision Pro owner I cannot tell you how stoked I am for this release. If you wrote down the concept of a game that literally looks like it was made to take full advantage of the Vision Pro, What If…? fits all of those marks.. It’s a great trailer and while I do honestly appreciate the inclusion of its highly-anticipated release date, the question that still remains how will people play it?

Apple and Marvel have confirmed the game will be free to download for a limited time. However, no mention has been made to this point if it will require an active Disney+ account to play.

Marvel’s What If…? Is coming May 30th, 2024 exclusively to the Apple Vision Pro.

Apple has released a minor but important update for iPad and iPhone earlier today. The new update, 17.5.1, was released to fix an issue involving the unwanted restoration of previously deleted corrupted images.

Depending on your device, the update will weigh in between 250-400MB. You can download it right now on your iPad or iPhone through your device’s software update menu.

There does not appear to be similar updates for the Mac, Apple Watch, or Apple TV at this time. We have not checked if the update was released for Vision Pro, but we will post a follow up if one does get released.

Star Wars Film Jedi Prime Announced – It Was Originally a Video Game May 17, 2024

Hollywood has recently been set abuzz that director James Mangold (Logan) may be working on a new Star Wars Film project referred to as Jedi Prime. The plot of the film revolves around the first person in the Star Wars universe to discover The Force, becoming the very first Jedi. Shortly after their discovery, another being discovers their own connection to The Force, becoming the very first Sith.

We have a very long memory here at GameXcess.net, and Jedi Prime rang several bells in that memory. It turns out, that was one of the concepts pitched in some of the final years of LucasArts, Lucasfilm Limited’s video game developer/publishing house.

According to the historical record, the Jedi Prime concept was passed on by LucasArts and The Force Unleashed would eventually be released to massive fanfare. However, the concept of the first Jedi fighting the first Sith has a lot of promise, and we think it could make for a great film. Here’s to hoping it will get a wide release!
