Anyone who logs into Halo 5: Guardians on Thanksgiving Weekend will be given an exclusive REQ pack featuring an exclusive emblem and a few other goodies.  Here’s a look at what I got.

Don Bluth Announces Dragon’s Lair: The Movie November 25, 2015

Visionary director Don Bluth (Land Before Time, An American Tale, Titan A.E.) has officially announced that he is seeking to turn the beloved arcade game Dragon’s Lair into a feature-length film.  The problem is they need your help to do it.

Bluth and his production company have been interested in making a feature-length Dragon’s Lair film but have been unable to secure proper funding for it. They fully intend to make this film using traditional 2D hand-drawn animation techniques (matching the style of the original games), and it seems like Hollywood is only interested in funding 3D animated projects, even when it isn’t appropriate (Peanuts anyone?). Because of that, the film is going to be funded via crowdsourcing.

Dragon’s Lair was one of the most groundbreaking arcade titles of its day, and having played it via recent ports on iPhone and Blu-Ray Disc, it holds a special place in my heart.

Nintendo Announces StreetPass Weekend This Thanksgiving Weekend November 24, 2015

Across the country, Nintendo offers free wireless hotspots, called Nintendo Zone locations, for 3DS users. Usually you can find Nintendo Zone hotspots in various McDonald’s, Barnes and Noble Bookstores, AT&T retail stores, and Best Buy locations across the US. These hotspots not only offer Internet access to Nintendo handhelds, they also help players obtain StreetPass tags from the hotspot’s previous users.

Nintendo has just announced that this weekend they’re going to be shaking things up and offering random StreetPass tags to anyone who visits any active Nintendo Zone location all weekend long. That means that instead of getting access to the StreetPass tags of the previous six visitors to the hotspot when you connect to it, you’ll receive random StreetPass tags from players all over the country!  This is perfect for any players who need to fill up their StreetPass plaza with new tags!

Don’t forget, this weekend Nintendo is also offering a special distribution to Pokémon Trainers by offering the legendary Pokémon Hoopa to anyone who visits a Nintendo Zone equipped McDonald’s with a copy of Pokémon X/Y or Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire starting November 27th.  You can get it by accessing the game’s gift menu while connected to the hotspot.

Halo 5: Guardians Update 3 Released November 24, 2015

A minor hotfix for Halo 5: Guardians was released earlier today. The hotfix repairs issues with save games and bookmarks caused by the previous update.

The new update is pretty small. If you had already installed the previous patch, the new update only weighs in at around 128MB of space.

Halo 5: Guardians is out now exclusively on Xbox One.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII PC Release Date November 19, 2015

Square Enix promised that all three games in the Final Fantasy XIII series would get released on the PC, and today they officially announced that the final Final Fantasy XIII game, Lightning Returns, finally has a release date.

This is great news for the PC community, as many PC-exclusive players have anticipated this game’s release for several months. For your entertainment, here’s the official announcement trailer. Enjoy.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is out now on Xbox 360 and PS3. It is coming to PC through STEAM on December 10th, 2015.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Episode 1 Now Free November 19, 2015

I don’t know how long this is going to last but if you’re interested in playing Resident Evil: Revelations 2 on your console of choice, now would be the time to give it a look.

Capcom has officially announced that they are making Episode 1 of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 available to download free of charge for anyone who wants to play it on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4.

I have no idea how long Capcom will be offering this deal so if you want to take advantage of it, make sure to check your platform’s online marketplace as soon as possible.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is out now on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Halo 5: Guardians Patch 2 Released November 18, 2015

A major update to Halo 5: Guardians has been released on the Xbox One earlier today. The new patch, weighing in at over 6GB, includes new maps, new multiplayer game modes, tweaks to the game’s REQ system, and a whole lot more.  Take a look for yourselves.

Players should also check their Xbox Live Messages, as you might find a download code from your friends at Xbox Live for an exclusive REQ pack.

The Sprint – The Making of Halo 5: Guardians Episode 5 Released November 17, 2015

The fifth episode of The Sprint, the ongoing documentary series about the making of Halo 5: Guardians, was released earlier today.

The new episode, titled “Ship It” details the events which preceded the game’s release.  Just be aware, there will be spoilers.

New Xbox One Experience Launches November 12, 2015

Xbox One owners are going to find themselves with a pretty hefty required software update to download the next time they power their Xbox Systems on.  Microsoft has officially released the New Xbox One Experience earlier today to all Xbox One owners.

The new OS includes a completely revamped interface inspired by Windows 10, the new Microsoft Edge browser, and Backwards Compatibility with select Xbox 360 digital and retail titles!

The best part is, this update is free and can be downloaded on all Xbox One systems. The new update, (depending on your system) could weigh in at around 3.5 GB.  If you keep your Xbox One in standby mode while connected to the Internet, it should download in the background automatically.  You can choose not to download it if you wish, but you won’t have access to the Xbox Live service.
