We are weeks away from the launch of Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One and to celebrate the release of the game, Microsoft and 343 Industries have released the first two episodes of the third season of their Making of Halo 5 web series, The Sprint.  I’ve always liked this series since I’m facinated by the stories behind a game’s development. This season of The Sprint details the game’s race to launch and you can watch the first two episodes of the season below.

The first episode, titled “Composer” details the development and production of Halo 5’s musical score.  Keep your ears open for an early listen of the game’s soundtrack.

The second episode is dubbed “Press Start” and details what went into creating the game’s opening cinematic.

Halo 5: Guardians is coming October 27th, 2015 exclusively for Xbox One.

A lot of customers online were very upset with Microsoft when they announced that the Limited Collector’s Edition of Halo 5: Guardians would only include a digital code for the game, and would not offer a copy of the game on a physical disc.  Microsoft has heard those concerns and promised they would offer a disc exchange for any player who would prefer a disc copy, but they didn’t tell players how to obtain a disc copy for their game until now.

First off, once you get your game code DON’T REDEEM IT!  Here are the official instructions on how to get your code exchanged for a disc version of the game.

Once you get your code, get it exchanged as soon as possible. Microsoft is only offering this exchange from Oct 20-Nov 1st. Since the game doesn’t officially launch until Oct 27th, time is not on your side.

UPDATE: While Halo 5: Guardians does officially launch on Oct 27th, Microsoft is allowing retailers to release the Limited Collector’s Edition of the game one week early, on October 20th, the same day that Microsoft is going to start offering the disc exchange. So, update your calendars, guys.

Halo 5: Guardians is coming October 27th, 2015 exclusively on Xbox One.

Microsoft and 343 Industries have just announced a third season of The Sprint, an ongoing digital series detailing the development of Halo 5: Guardians, is on its way in October. Here’s the official trailer.

I have to admit the first two seasons of The Sprint have been a great watch and a very worthy reason to give the Halo Channel a download.  Previous seasons have detailed certain key milestones in the development of the game. For example, the first season detailed the launch of Halo 5‘s multiplayer beta test, and the second season focused on the preparations for the game’s E3 2015 showing.  Season 3 will focus on the rush to launch.

The Sprint season 3 is coming in October. You’ll be able to watch it on the Halo Channel app for Xbox One, Smartphones and Windows 8/10.

We are exactly a month away from the release of Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One and to promote the upcoming launch of the gam, Microsoft released a live-action TV spot which aired tonight during an NFL game.

If you’re like me and have no interest in physical sports whatsoever you probably missed it. Don’t worry, we got you covered, you can watch the commercial below. Just be aware there may be a small spoiler. If you’re uncomfortable with that, you might want to wait until the game is released before you watch it. If not, go ahead and give it a watch.  It is extremely well made and has great production values. I just question why Microsoft would choose to air it during an event that their fans probably have no interest in.

Halo 5 Guardians will release October 27th, 2015 exclusively on Xbox One.

I know we’re still in the middle of Halo Week 2015 on this website, but today is officially recognized as Batman Day worldwide, and who am I to neglect such an important day on this site!  To celebrate, DC has partnered up with tons of retailers to give away a special Batman Day comic free of charge to anyone who visits a participating bookstore, comic shop or video game store.

For anyone who might appreciate a blast from the past today, here’s some exclusive Batman content for our loyal readers.  A few years ago, we recorded a podcast where we discussed the history of Batman video games up until the release of the Batman: Arkham video games.  For those of you who might have missed it, or those of you who might want to listen to it again, you can listen to the entire podcast below!

Have a happy Batman Day everyone, and don’t forget to pick up the free comic at your local retailer.  You might need to shop around a bit because my local comic book store didn’t receive copies of the book, but my local GameStop did have copies in stock.  In fact, GameStop has announced their version of the book features an exclusive variant cover.

I’ve got big news for you guys.  We’re a month away from the Xbox One release of Halo 5: Guardians, making 2015 one of the biggest years in Halo history. Because of that, Maniac and diskreader117 decided to team up to talk about Halo‘s impact over the past year. It turns out there was a lot of Halo to go around, we ended up discussing more than just what our expectations were for Halo 5, we also talked about Halo: The Master Chief Collection‘s state one year after it was released, the release of Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike on iOS, Halo Nightfall, the upcoming Halo TV series, Halo Wars 2, and a lot more. In fact, we talked so much we’re going to release this conversation over the course of a whole week, and because of that we are officially dubbing this week The Week of Halo on GameXcess.net!

To kick this all off, we’re going to break some big Halo 5: Guardians news. Earlier this month, Microsoft released the opening cinematic for Halo 5, where it detailed Spartan Locke and his team going into battle. However, Locke’s team is only half of the story of Halo 5, you’ll also be playing as series hero Master Chief, and he has a team of his own. Here’s the official opening cinematic for Blue Team.

Halo 5: Guardians is coming October 2015 exclusively on the Xbox One.

With TGS 2015 winding down, more footage of the highly anticipated RPG Final Fantasy XV was released this week. This time, we got a look at some of the side activities players will be able to do in the free time they spend between quests.

I’m sure a lot of Final Fantasy purists will be happy to see the return of rideable Chocobo, I can’t think of any recent Final Fantasy game that allowed players to fish. Take a look.

Final Fantasy XV is coming in 2016 to the PS4 and Xbox One.
