Nintendo has just released a massive update to the Nintendo Switch hardware. The new update, version 5.0.0 adds a slew of new features and updates to the system’s parental controls.
First up, there was a revamp to the system’s News interface. Viewed news will now appear slightly grayed out and you can now filter your news based on channel by pressing Y. Second, you can now get friend suggestions using Facebook and Twitter options. You will need to attach your Facebook or Twitter account to your Switch to use this feature. Digital Switch software purchased on Nintendo’s website will begin to download sooner. This auto download will work even if the Switch is in standby mode. New features have been added to the system’s Parental Controls. It will allow you to make exceptions for startup restrictions and whitelist specific games you feel are appropriate. You’ll need to update the Parental Controls app on your smart device to use the new features.
You can download the newest system update from your console’s settings menu. It doesn’t matter if you play at home or on the go, you can download the System Update to your Nintendo Switch while it is in Tablet or TV mode.
Splatoon 2 Splatfest – Chicken or Egg This Weekend March 9, 2018

While you’re all still reeling over the major announcements Nintendo made during today’s Nintendo Direct, I’m happy to remind you all that Splatfest is coming back to Splatoon 2 this weekend. This time, Splatfest is getting philosophical by asking the famous question, “What came first, the chicken or the egg?” Players will chose their team based on their answer to that question, Chicken or Egg.
Splatfest will begin at 11 PM Friday and will run for exactly 24-hours. You’ll need an internet-connected Nintendo Switch and the full version of Splatoon 2 to participate. If you want to get into the action as soon as the event starts, you can pick your team right now. Just be aware, once your team is picked you can’t change it.
And for those of you who missed it, here’s the official trailer for the first-ever premium Splatoon 2 DLC, Splatoon 2 OCTO.
The single-player OCTO expansion is coming later this summer.
Splatoon 2 is out now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo Direct 3-8-18 March 8, 2018

Today’s Nintendo Direct has just wrapped and here’s a full look at the entire stream. Take a look, and we’ll post our thoughts about it below.
To me, the biggest surprise of this video was the announcement they are porting the original Luigi’s Mansion to the Nintendo 3DS! That game was one of the launch titles of the original GameCube, and it is great to see Nintendo bring it back on the same platform they released its sequel on.
Let’s get this first one right out of the bag now, Super Smash Bros is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2018. Mario, Link and Splatoon characters have been seen in the initial trailer.
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is coming May 2018 exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.
No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again is coming to the Nintendo Switch this year! I always thought Travis would feel right at home in the digital world, and now it looks like he will be making a home there in this game.
Octopath Traveller (yes that is it’s finished title) is getting released on the Nintendo Switch in June 2018. It will be getting a Collector’s Edition release on the same day.
Splatoon 2 is getting an incredible single-player DLC expansion. You play as a new character who looks like an octoling. I don’t know about you, but I was getting a Portal vibe while watching it’s trailer. It’s coming this summer and it will be $19.99. Anyone who preorders the game now will be able to get some special in-game items they can use now.
No Pokémon announcements were made, which is odd since Nintendo and Game Freak confirmed a Pokémon title is coming to the Nintendo Switch. I guess we will have to wait until E3 2018 or Pokémon World Championships 2018 before anything further is announced about it.
What did you guys think about the video? Any surprises? Anything you wish they had included? Post a comment below!

Wreck-It Ralph 2 Teaser Trailer March 1, 2018

In 2012, Disney Animation released the film Wreck-It Ralph. It was a love letter to gamers that told the story of a video game’s final boss who wanted more out of life. It featured tons of recognizable characters from many iconic games including Sonic the Hedgehog, PAC-MAN, Q-Bert, Street Fighter II and even Tapper. The film was an incredible achievement, and I feel was just as ground breaking a story as Disney’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit was back in the late ’80s.
Now, Disney has just released the teaser trailer for Wreck-It Ralph‘s sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet. Take a look and enjoy!
Wreck-It Ralph 2 is coming to theaters thus Thanksgiving.
