Half-Life: Alyx Announced November 22, 2019

Well, here it is. The next Half-Life game has been announced, and its coming exclusively to VR.

Half-Life: Alyx takes place between the events of Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2. You play the game as Alyx, Gordon’s partner in the Half-Life 2 games. From the looks of it, we’re going to be privy to a lot of tidbits about the Half-Life universe we had not seen before…and after waiting over a decade since the last official Half-Life game was released…this could not have been more welcome news.

Half-Life: Alyx is coming to most PC VR headsets including Valve Index, Oculus and Vive. God I hope this is coming to the PSVR at some point, I really don’t want to have to build a new PC with a VR headset…

Half-Life: Alyx is coming to PC VR headsets in March 2020. It will be free to owners of the Valve Index.

The game will support native 4K at 60FPS on PC. You’ll probably need to own an Xbox One X to get performance like that out of the console version.

Gears 5 Title Update 2 Released November 7, 2019

A major title update with lots of bug fixes has just been released for Gears 5. You can check the entire list of patches and fixes here.

This is a much needed update due to the fact game stability in multiplayer has been an issue ever since launch. It’s also one of the big reasons I haven’t finished playing the game, the game would frequently ignore my player progress, even in the single player campaign. Microsoft and the Coalition have promised this will be accompanied by a server-side patch which will take place over the next few hours. If you happened to lose progress in multiplayer, you may not see your progress restored until after the server patch.

You might want to free up some system space for this update. For example, if you are using an Xbox One X and had the previous title update, the new one may require a download of over two GB.

Gears 5 is out now on PC and Xbox One.

iOS and iPadOS 13.2.2 Released November 7, 2019

A minor but VERY important update has just been released for the iPhone and iPad and I recommend all users who had version 13.2 installed to upgrade as soon as possible.

The new update comes with all the bug fixes and improvements that were included with 13.2, as well as the support for the new AirBuds, and fixes the issues that users were having with HomePod devices. No update is currently needed for the Apple TV, I’m assuming tvOS wasn’t affected by the HomePod bug.

If you already had 13.2 installed, the update shouldn’t weigh in at more than 60-80MB. You can install it right now using either your device’s software update option or iTunes.
