Square Enix has just released a free demo for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, an updated remaster of the classic PS1 game Dragon Warrior VII, on multiple platforms!

If you’re even slightly curious about this game you should download this demo as soon as possible. Saved game progress will carry over to the full game, and demo players will be eligible for an exclusive costume unlock when they transfer their demo’s save to the full version!

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is coming Feb 5th, 2026 to the PC, PS5, Switch, Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.

Happy New Year, gamers! Square Enix has long ruled Japan’s RPG space with their phenomenal Dragon Quest franchise. In a month, we’ll be seeing the release of a highly-anticipated remaster of Dragon Quest VII, a game (we in the west) may remember as Dragon Warrior VII when it initially released on the PlayStation.

To celebrate the release (and celebrate the start of the 40th anniversary) the official opening movie was just revealed. Check it out!

Dragon Quest: Reimagined is coming Feb 5th, 2026 to PC, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PS5. Can’t wait that long to play? A demo is coming January 7th!
