PS4 System Software 5.56 Released September 2, 2018

Its been a long time since Sony last released an official software update for the PS4, but it looks like that dry spell has come to an end. Today, Sony has released System Software 5.56 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. It includes no new features and nonspecific bug fixes. The update currently weighs in at around 450MB.

The new software is not currently required to access the PlayStation Network, but it likely will be soon. Make sure to get your PS4 updated before Spider-Man comes out on Thursday night! Digital preloads for everyone who preordered that game from the PlayStation Store are expected to start on September 5th.
