Nintendo Announces Nintendo Network Expansion Price October 15, 2021

Earlier this month, Nintendo announced they would be offering an expansion tier to their Nintendo Network online service for the Switch. In this expansion, Nintendo says they’ll be offering the chance to play preselected N64 and Sega Genesis titles. Today, we now know what the cost of the expansion will be. The total price to access the Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games…is $49US a year. A whopping $30 increase over the current plan. Here’s the announcement video.

I’m sorry but that’s just too high a price for me. Especially since Nintendo won’t be offering very many N64 and Genesis games at launch. Maybe if they offered EVERY game ever made on both platforms, the $50 a year price would be justified.

Hoonigan Builds a Real-Life Warthog October 14, 2021

Halo’s M12-LRV, otherwise known as the Warthog, is one of the most iconic vehicles in the history of media. From the first minute you got behind the wheel, gaming was changed forever. It’s a four wheel drive Jeep with a 50 caliber chaingun in the backseat. At the time of its release, driving in a shooter video game was almost unheard of, and it set the standard for all future console games. The controls were absolutely flawless. And let’s be honest, it is so cool.

Officially, three Warthogs have been built in real life. The first was made by WETA for the Halo feature film that never happened. It later appeared in Halo: Landfall and Halo 4: Forward Onto Dawn. As far as I know that one is currently at WETA in New Zealand. The second was a 3D printed custom vehicle made to promote Halo 4. That is currently at the Patterson in Hollywood. The third was made by Hershund for Halo: Outpost Discovery. It’s whereabouts are currently unknown.

Now, we have a fourth. Hoonigan has been building a Warthog capable of hitting 1,000 horsepower to celebrate the release of Halo: Infinite. To celebrate the build, they’ve produced this ten-part documentary about its creation, and the final part was posted earlier today. Give it a watch!

I think it looks more like a Puma.

Halo: Infinite is coming December 8th, 2021 for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Welcome back on this Tuesday for a brand new Japan Travel Tips, where we highlight some of the best independently produced travelogs from across the internet intended to help those interested in visiting Japan. Today, we’re going to get a bit serious, but I can assure you it’s for a safe and practical way. It is a well-known concern that Japan experiences seismic and volcanic activity on a more frequent basis than other regions of the world. Because of that Japanese citizens are instructed by their government in how to best deal with dangerous natural events if it happens to occur by offering access to a fully immersive interactive practice disaster venue. I’m not kidding.

Free safety training is a valuable service made available by the Japanese government and typically can be visited by anyone ranging from tourists to schoolchildren on field trips. YouTuber Akidearest, who we’ve highlighted previously in this series, recently posted this video about her experience. It is something you absolutely should watch if you plan to visit Japan, enjoy.

Hope you liked this video! Stay tuned for next week where we will follow up with something we teased back when this series began. That’s right, we’re finally going to go all out on highlighting how cool Japanese vending machines are!
