Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines Memories August 8, 2014

Its been ten years since a little known PC Action-RPG called Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines was released. Based on White Wolf’s Vampire: The Masquerade franchise, the game was created using Valve’s Source Engine and was released on the exact same day as Half-Life 2.
Despite the use of a (then) top of the line graphics engine and the World of Darkness license, the game saw lukewarm reviews by major PC critics and didn’t sell very well. Sadly, like Anachronox before it, the development studio closed up shortly after completing the game and no sequel was ever made. In fact, plans to revive the license with the launch of a very long in development MMO were terminated earlier this year.
So why does this mostly forgotten game mean so much to Maniac? Let’s find out.
If you’re interested in learning more about the modern World of Darkness, I recommend checking out Iron Liz’s review. She does reviews of Pen and Paper RPGs over on her site, The Foundry.

The trailer for the very first DLC for Mario Kart 8 has hit the web. Three new karts, inspired by cars developed by Mercedes-Benz, are coming to the game and all players will be able to get them free of charge. Take a look at them for yourselves.
I just love that theme song. The Mercedes-Benz DLC will be added in a free software update on August 27th, 2014. You will need a full version of Mario Kart 8 to play.
Mario Kart 8 is out now exclusively on the Wii U.

The game features the classic gameplay of Dynasty Warriors mixed with the characters, enemies and environments of the classic Legend of Zelda series. Today, Nintendo has devoted an entire Nintendo Direct to this new game, a very rare event. Give it a watch.

Its been delayed a few days, but this is worth the wait. For those of you (like me) who were unable to attend this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Microsoft and 343 Industries have provided a video of their panel on Halo: The Master Chief Collection for the Xbox One. The collection will include remastered versions of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 on one disc, with all the single player and multiplayer components intact. Give it a watch!
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming November 2014 exclusively to the Xbox One.
Xbox GamesCom 2014 Briefing Information August 4, 2014

Next week the highly anticipated gaming event, Gamescom 2014 will take place in Cologne, Germany. Microsoft has announced they will be there in full force, showing off the Xbox and several new games for the Xbox One console including Sunset Overdrive and the next Call of Duty game.
The video makes no mention of what is in my opinion the most important Xbox One exclusive title for next year, Quantum Break. The game’s developers, Remedy, have gone on record as saying they plan to have a live demo of the game available at Gamescom, but its unclear if they will be showing the game at the Xbox Briefing or not.
The Xbox Briefing will stream Tuesday morning, the 12th of August, at 8am EST on Xbox.com, Windows Phone, the Xbox Live Event Player, and Twitch.TV. An aftershow will stream immediately after the event concludes.

This year’s ConnectiCon was quite a ride. Maniac and Princess Angel were fortunate enough to attend this year’s show, and report on a lot of the event straight from the show. In fact, we had to shoot a forty minute video just to detail our experiences at the event! In it, Maniac talks about the panels we saw, the celebrities we interviewed, and the events we witnessed. You never know, he may tell a story about a well known show that you had never heard before.
Special thanks to the ConnectiCon organizers for inviting us to the event and for letting us bring you all this fantastic ConnectiCon content to the site!

A year after the original release of The Last of Us on the Playstation 3, Sony got the two lead actors from the game, Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, together again for a candid interview in anticipation of the release of The Last of Us: Remastered on the Playstation 4. In the interview, they talk about practically everything they had to go through to get the roles of Joel and Ellie and how they worked together during the game’s development. It’s a great interview and you can tell there’s a great friendship between these two actors. If you’re a fan of the game, or just really looking forward to picking up the PS4 version later today, give it a watch.

Just in time for the release of The Last of Us: Remastered, Sony has released a new system update for the Playstation 4. The biggest feature of the new update, version 1.75, is that it adds 3D Blu Ray Disc support to the PS4. Also included with the update is a feature originally promised at the PS4’s announcement, an automatic download feature for selected content the PS4 predicts you might be interested in purchasing in the future.
The new update is required for access to the Playstation Network.
