Those of you who may have just gotten comfortable with 17.6 will discover that Apple has just released a minor update for iPhone, iPad and Mac computers earlier today.

The new update resolves a security issue and includes minor bug fixes. Depending on your device it could weigh in between 350-400MB and can be downloaded using your device’s software update function.

There does not appear to be an update for Apple Watch, Apple TV or Vision Pro at this time.

Streaming service MAX (formerly HBO MAX) just released an awesome trailer for their next season of The Last of Us.

The story of The Last of Us is based on the legendary PlayStation game franchise. After the events of the first season wrapped up the story of the first game, Season 2 is shaping up to be an adaptation of the second game in the series. I don’t want to spoil anything from the second game or the new season, but we clearly see new characters from Part II (including Issac) along with Joel and Ellie returning in this brief footage. I can’t wait to watch it when it gets released.

The Last of Us will continue in 2025 on the MAX streaming service.

Ross Scott Starts His Anti-Game Shutdown Petition in the EU August 1, 2024

For a few weeks now, YouTube Legend Ross Scott has been working as a one-man advocate for all gamers worldwide. We’ve seen just over the past few years alone that more game developers have started releasing games that are entirely reliant on their central servers. They say it’s to make the games “better” but we know this is a complete lie. Just over the past decades, I have many full retail game boxes I paid money for I am no longer able to install or run just because the game’s publishers did not want to continue to operate an essential server-side component they intentionally put in the game.

Ross’s goal has been to either force governments to pass laws or courts to create legal precedents that prevent game companies from releasing any video games in a state where it could be shut down, even if the game was not a rental or sold as a subscription service.

Recently he has begun a major petition drive in the EU he believes can force major change. He’s included the details about it in the video below.

If you’re in the EU, you can check out the petition on StopKillingGames. If you aren’t, feel free to spread the word about the petition!

Lost Media – AT&T’s Lost EPCOT Simulator Ride July 29, 2024

Welcome back to Lost Media! Today we’re going to be discussing one of the most popular forms of LM, Theme Park Lost Media! However, today we won’t be talking about a ride that was shuttered or a show that was closed, we’ll be discussing something most people, including Disney and AT&T historians, have no idea ever existed.

the mid-90s, EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth was sponsored by AT&T, and as the sponsor they offered a unique attraction many fans of the company may not even be aware existed. A small motion simulator in front of a large screen was located in Spaceship Earth’s Network Neighborhood. If you had the chance to try it out, you’d find yourself shrunk to the size of an electron and ride across AT&T’s communication cables.

Tales from IT – Upgrading Home Automation Before a Protocol is Discontinued July 20, 2024

Welcome back to Tales from IT! Today, Maniac tells a story about a time he worked with a good friend of his father. He had mobility issues and set up an early automation service in his home to assist him with controlling things like his lights and room temperature. Since these predated the prevalence of smart devices, his devices did not connect to Wi-Fi, they used a different protocol that needed a compatible control hub to operate. However, the control hub his devices were using was reliant on a central online server, and that server was being shut down. The clock was ticking, he needed Maniac to help him migrate his devices so they could still be functional before his existing automation service shut down.

Maniac had never messed with home automation before, but he did have a lot of ideas for ways to improve and upgrade this man’s home. Could he finish the job before the old service shut down? Watch and find out!
