How to Upgrade the PS4 Pro Hard Drive December 18, 2018
Posted by Maniac in How To, Site Videos.add a comment
Happy Holidays everyone! Sony’s PS4 Pro currently ships with a stock internal storage capacity of 1TB. After owning one for nearly a year, that amount of storage just wasn’t cutting it anymore. We need to upgrade the internal storage of the PS4 Pro! Thankfully this is permitted by Sony, and this procedure can be performed without voiding the system’s warranty.
So how do we upgrade the PS4 Pro’s internal Hard Drive? You’ll need:
- The PS4 Pro
- A PC or Mac
- A 1TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive (exFAT Formatted)
- A 2-4GB USB Thumb Drive (FAT32 Formatted)
- A Phillips Head 00 screwdriver
The PS4 Pro accepts 2.5″ SATA 6.0GB/s Hard Drives, so you’ll have to get a drive that meets those specifications. We are going to do this procedure with a 2TB mechanical drive. You can also install a Solid State Drive (SSD) using this method, provided it fits the 2.5″ form factor.
We broke this procedure into two parts to make it easier for all of you. In part 1, we focus specifically on the prep work. Everything you need to do BEFORE taking your PS4 Pro apart is in this video, please watch before starting the process. If you would like a direct link to Sony’s PS4 firmware download page, you can click here. Regardless if you plan to back up your data or not, you WILL need the PS4 firmware to get your PS4 working after replacing the internal storage.
With prep out of the way we will now move to Part 2. This is what you’ll need to know to take the PS4 Pro apart, replace the internal drive, and get the PS4 working again after the drive has been replaced. We follow it up with how to restore all your data from the old drive using a backup.

iOS 12.1.2 Released December 17, 2018

A very minor software update has been released for nearly all Apple iDevices tonight. The new update, version 12.1.2, includes much requested support for eSIM cards.
It won’t take very long to download the new software update, in fact it is one of the smallest software updates I’ve seen in a while. Depending on your device, if you previously had the most up to date system software, you will likely only need to download 65MB of data. You can also update your device through iTunes.
Tales from IT – That Time I Unboxed and Updated 50 iPads in One Day December 17, 2018

If you’re here because of the title, it pretty much speaks for itself. One day while working on a long-term IT assignment, I was asked at the last minute to set up iPads for fifty people. They had to be unboxed, put into cases, and updated. Since these devices were arriving system locked, preventing unauthorized users from setting them up and accessing the home screen, they could only be updated with iTunes. I was told all fifty iPads had to be ready by 7am the next morning. How did I do? What did it take? Did I make it? Watch and find out.
With the exception of maybe Louis Rothman, has anyone ever done this?

Date Nite – Into the Spider-Verse Review December 13, 2018

We’ve been covering the ongoing news about Spider-Man for the PS4 for some time now and that is because the game is really that great. Marvel Studios did not have a Spider-Man feature-film in theaters this year, but Sony Pictures Animation has. Into the Spider-Verse is a 3D animated film following the character of Miles Morales, a boy who gets the powers of Spider-Man at the same time his dimension collides with the Spider-Heroes of other universes.
Our host, Maniac, was unable to convince a single person he knew to accompany him to the film. Sony Pictures, it seems, has still left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths following The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Is this film worth watching? Was Sony able to produce a decent film? Do not worry, this review contains NO SPOILERS. Watch it and enjoy.
Travis Strikes Again – Electric Thunder Tiger II Trailer December 13, 2018

We’ve made it no secret that No More Heroes was one of our favorite games for the Nintendo Wii, and hearing a new NMH game would be released when the Nintendo Switch was announced was a big reason we picked up the tablet console. While we have been hearing news about the game in the past few weeks, we haven’t talked very much about the game here on the site for a few reasons. Today, that ends. Here’s the newest trailer for the game featuring one of the exclusive games Travis will be able to play, Electric Thunder Tiger II!
I have to say it looks like this game will take full advantage of one of the strongest features of the Nintendo Switch, the two independent joy-con controllers function perfectly for couch cooperative play. Couch co-op for the win!
Travis Strikes Again is coming January 18th, 2019 exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.

Since the lineup was first revealed, we knew the third and final DLC mission for Spider-Man on PS4 would be released some time this month. We have been waiting a third of this month for any news, previews or release information about that DLC and until then had received nothing. Today, that changes. Here’s the teaser trailer for the PS4-exclusive Spider-Man‘s third and final DLC, Silver Lining.
We will be getting three all new suits included with this DLC mission and it looks like one of those suits is from Sony’s upcoming animated film Into the Spider-Verse. It’s interesting that they waited until today, the day Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters, to make this announcement.
Silver Lining is coming December 21st, 2018 for a price of $9.99 US. It will require the full version of Spider-Man to play. Spider-Man is out now exclusively for the PS4. You can also get the DLC bundled with the other two DLC expansions for a price of $24.99 US.

The update weighs in at around 440MB if you already have the previous firmware installed. You will need to update your console to 6.20 to use the PlayStation Network.
Tales From IT – How I Became Known as a Major Company’s iPhone Guy December 11, 2018

Did you miss us? We are back with an all-new Tales From IT, where our host reveals some of the biggest challenges and greatest successes he’s had working as an IT consultant. Today we will be showing a new side of IT, the one where a company gives you room and board to work for them.
Maniac has fifteen years of iPhone experience but rarely uses it in a corporate setting. It just so happened that a major company he started working for exclusively used iPhone and iPad mobile devices, and the people using them would be in regular need of repairs and upgrades. Since most of his peers at the company were Android exclusive users, they had a disadvantage troubleshooting Apple’s quirks.
The second day of work, a third-party software update was released that bricked a large number of older phones and put them in an endless shutdown loop. Maniac was asked to fix them and if possible to recover the important data locked in each of the broken phones. He succeeded. Within two days his peers referred to him as the “iPhone Guy”. How did he do it? Watch the video below to find out!
