Hey everybody, I just got back from E3 and can finally start sorting though the incredible amount of footage I shot during the event, and finally have the chance to sit down and start writing up all the previews of the show I have done (and trust me I saw plenty).

Some of those previews I posted up on the time, or shot during the day with the intention to upload them that day.  This is one of those videos.  This was meant to be a short introduction that I planned to post up on YouTube right after I shot it.  Unfortunatly I could not have imagined that even though I had 5 full bars of 3G coverage in the area, the 3G service would be as dead as Julius Caesar, and the release of this video had to be delayed until I got back.  But I want you all to see it, on it’s own, as it was intended to be, just as an introduction to my experience.

I shot a full length documentary of my trip in the meantime, and I will be working on getting that all edited and uploaded for next week.  I also have a very full plate of MORE videos to shoot (inFamous 2 Hero Edition unboxing) now that I’m back.  So this site is going to be VERY active in the next few days, so stick around, and keep checking in, likely there will be something new and fantastic every time you check it!

The Duke Nukem Forever demo was released late last night, and I was working around the clock to get a let’s play out of it as soon as I possibly could, with my only bottlenecks being the power of my CPU and the bandwith of my network.

For those of you who are not First Access Club members who want to know just what’s in this demo, I’ll tell you.  It’s the PAX ’10 demo.  It has the exact same levels as I read the previews of from PAX ’10.  So if you played the game there, you’ve played this demo.

Here’s the entire uncut video of my playthrough of the Duke Nukem Forever Demo.

Since Project Cafe is being unveiled very soon at this year’s E3, and with the recent price drop, now is a great time to buy a Wii for cheap, and get some good games.

Maniac and diskreader117 discuss our picks for our favorite game series for the system.

Hey gang, I know I promised you a look at the inFamous 2 Beta, and here it is!

First off, I want to show the details of just what is involved in what was released with the beta, and what the User Generated Content (UGC) feature which will ship with inFamous 2 is going to include.  The UGC feature in inFamous 2 is very much like a mod tool, which will enable users to modify the game, create their own missions, test their own missions, and upload them to the Playstation Network.  You’ll also be able to download and play other people’s missions as well.

So, I was able to get my hands on the beta, and I was fortunate enough to start downloading it before the Playstation Network and Playstation Store went completely offline.  After the service went back up I started playing the beta, and I was amazed just how detailed the game that shipped with the beta was.

inFamous 2 will release June 7th, 2011 exclusive to the Playstation 3.

Given the very vague response we’ve gotten from Remedy Games over what their next project is, and the precise wording of some of the comments I’ve been reading about on the Remedy forums, I have come to a certain conclusion.

Take a look for yourselves, and you be the judge.

The Poet and the Muse Music Video May 9, 2011

This isn’t really gameXcess.net releated, but I have made music videos for games in the past.  I usually get especially inspired by songs designed specifically for games when used in those games.  About 5 years ago I made a video for YouTube for the Max Payne 2 song “The Late Goodbye” and it’s currently had over 230,000 hits and counting.

Well, Remedy has done it again and there is another bunch of fantastic songs used in Alan Wake, including my personal favorite “The Poet and the Muse”.  So last night I finally edited how I believed the music video for that song should have looked, since as far as I can tell there was never an official music video released for this song.  Enjoy, and tell me what you think.

The Darkness II Confession Comic Review May 8, 2011

I’m not trying to tread on Linkara’s toes or anything, but I decided to do review of a comic book, and what better comic to review than one that was based on a video game series which in itself was based on comic book series.

The Darkness started out as a comic book property but became a successful video game with a sequel coming soon.  To bridge the gap between the two games 2K and Top Cow released a comic book free of charge to anyone who wants it, in order to spark interest in The Darkness II and fill people in on what the status quo is for the new game’s story.

What is Maniac’s comic book background?  Where did The Darkness and Top Cow come from?  What other books does Top Cow do?  Well Maniac talks about that all too.

Well, I’m going to E3 guys, it’s been known for a while, but just what am I going to do there and what do we know about it so far?  diskreader117 and I discuss what gameXcess.net is going to be doing at E3, and what we know so far about the show.

We break some news that CD Projekt RED is going to have a secret reveal, talk about the Project Cafe from Nintendo, UBI’s new Assasin’s Creed, and make fun of Randy Pitchford.

Movie of the Week: SiN: The Movie (Part 1) May 2, 2011

Maniac reviews SiN: The Movie.  While this probably wasn’t the first video gane related Japanese anime feature, this was the first video game animated movie tie in he had seen on retail store shelves back when it was released.  Ten years later, a torrent of animated adaptations of various video games are on store shelves on both DVD and Blu-Ray.

This is the first part of Maniac’s review of the movie.  A lot was changed from the game, and a lot stayed the same.  Take a look at what Maniac thinks of the first part.

Update:  Well, YouTube blocked the video in some countries due to a copyright claim with whoever won the lottery to get the rights to this movie.  Since the claim is pretty legit (my research confirms the organization who claimed copyright in a very rare event actually DID own the current rights to the movie in question), the video got next to no hits, and I really wasn’t looking forward to finishing the series, I pulled the video.  Sorry guys, but you can blame The Anime Network for it.
