Maniac unboxes the Xbox 360 version of the Catherine “Love is Over” Deluxe Edition. This version does include the artbook and sound disc which is included with all of the inital launch copies (and preorder copies) of Catherine.
This also marks the first time Maniac has done a review of a Collector’s Edition, as promised, Collector’s Editions are graded on a Three Point Scale, with Don’t Bother being the lowest score, Fanboys Only being only for die hard fans of the game or game series, and Required for being an absolutely essential purchase and a very dissapointing miss. It sure has been a while since the last Top Cutscenes video was posted, so consider that officially rectified. Maniac takes a look at the funniest five scenes of 2005’s Psychonauts.
This time, I decided to bring something new to the series. This time, instead of just listing off a top list and why, I included a little history on the game’s development and release is included, as well as some updated information about the status of the game.
New Title Sequence July 21, 2011

After nearly a year of using it, I decided to do a little update to the opening credits sequence for gameXcess.net, so I shot a little bit of new footage and plan to use this for all further site videos. Of course there were some clips I just had to keep, but I really wanted people to see my bookshelves up close, so they could see for themselves my years of experience.
Main Theme will remain “Pop Culture Hero” by Kris Straub and Scott Kurtz.

I’m the least likely person that you’d want to have talking about a game which at it’s heart seems to be about having a complex relationship with someone else. But that’s not going to stop me from doing this Let’s Play of the Catherine Demo!
Catherine is a quirky game which is kind of a mix between a social status game and an addictive puzzle game. The demo, which released for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 last week, gives a good taste of what’s in store, and makes some promises about what we get to see in the final version of the game, although we don’t get to see the consequences of our choices in the demo itself, which was my only complaint.
Apologies in advance for the low audio during certain dialog scenes (that’s why I kept in the subtitles), for some reason when the game switched over to 5.1 audio during in-game dialog sequences, the audio level dropped from the 2D animated segments, and there was no option in game to alter the volume levels.
Catherine is coming July 26th, 2011 for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. There’s also going to be a Collector’s Edition for either platform, called the “Love is Over” Edition. Preorders of the game at participating retailers will get you an artbook and soundtrack bundle seperatly, or bundled inside the “Love is Over” CE.

As promised, here’s more of my E3 discussion that I had with diskreader117 over what I saw at E3. In this video, I talk mostly about what I had seen the first day I went to E3, in paticular, The Darkness 2, Batman: Arkham City, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and RAGE.
This likely will be my final E3 Wrap Up Video. I already have other videos up for the Playstation Vita and Prey 2. As for what I saw on day 2, well, Duke Nukem Forever is already out, so doing a preview of that is not needed, and I already wrote up a preview of Gears of War 3. Don’t worry though, you can be assured that more new content is coming to the site very soon.

I know I had promised to do this on the Twitter feed some time ago, but only now have I finally had the chance to do it. Here is the first post-E3 discussion. For the first E3 video, I talk to diskreader117 about the Sony NGP, now known as the Playstation Vita.
At E3, I got to demo it and five games. Is it worth the purchase? Watch the video and find out.
More E3 wrap up videos are coming in the next few days. I saw a LOT, and there’s so much to tell.

GameStop sent Maniac a gift for all the bad stuff he’s said about them. Actually he got it by cashing in GameStop Rewards points he earned from buying so many Collector’s Editions of games this year. This is availble for redemption on the site, and it looked to be the nicest thing offered for the point value, so it was ordered.
Maniac unboxes the Splatterhouse mask stand made as a promotional display for GameStops across the country. Now it looks like GameStop is giving them away to Power Up Rewards members who have the points to redeem it. They also offer a lot of other stuff on the site. It arrived one week after ordering it and came packaged in what you see before you (they just slapped a shipping label on it).
This thing is a VERY high quality collector’s piece, take a look for yourselves!
Uncharted 3 Beta Gameplay July 7, 2011

I’ve been trying for almost a week to get this footage up, but it seems like now is the best time to do it. diskreader117 and I play the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception multiplayer beta, which I had access to on launch, and got some footage of it to show off here for those of you who are interested.
There are going to be some perks to playing in the Uncharted 3 Beta. Just downloading it you are promised a special avatar picture, for playing the levels over five times a piece will net you some special stickers, and there’s a reward for making it to rank 25.
The Uncharted 3 Beta is currently free to download right now and doesn’t require a Playstation Plus subscription (or a redeemable code). If you have access to the Playstation Store right now, give it a download and enjoy it.
E3 Vlog Day 3 June 20, 2011

Hey guys, I have finally uploaded all the video I shot for day 3 of E3. That day was made up of me getting a minute of the Wii U in action, getting to see the Playstation Vita, and meeting Randy Pitchford at the Aliens: Colonial Marines Demo. It was a long wait, but it was totally worth it.
Thanks for watching through this series. It was fantastic getting to go back to E3 after so many years of not going. It was even better this year than the years past, and I’m so happy I got to go. Next year promises to be even bigger and better, and I’ll keep you posted on that!
