Maniac and Twitch Discuss the Super Nintendo October 23, 2011

I’m joined once again by my good friend Twitch of TwitchGaming.  In it, we go 16-bit and discuss the Super Nintendo.  He has quite a collection of what are considered some of the best games for the console, and we discuss the history behind them.

Small postscript to this.  Twitch and I shot this SEVERAL months ago, back when I had the ability to upload videos on YouTube in excess of fifteen minutes.  I lost that ability while in the process of uploading this video and held it off.  Now that I have the ability back, I intend to use it before its taken away from me again.

Because of that, my plea at the end of the video is obsolite, please ignore it and rest assured it was answered some time between the video being shot and when it was uploaded for all to see.

Batman: Arkham City Collector’s Edition Unboxing October 20, 2011

Maniac unboxes the Xbox 360 version of the Batman: Arkham City Collector’s Edition, and gives his review of it.

Two small afterthoughts.  The box says the copy of Gotham Knight is a Blu-Ray, that is incorrect.  When I investigated the included disc it was a DVD, not a BD.  My guess is that the PS3 edition must come with the Blu-Ray version of the film, but if you already have a copy of the Blu-Ray (which I do) you’re not going to get anything extra out of it.

Also the complete soundtrack was very easy to download and did not include DRM.  It was properly organized for iTunes syncing, but the files did not include any album artwork.  If you intend to sync the songs to an Apple music device, I recommend adding the words “Various Artists” (no quotes) to the Album Artist setting in iTunes for each song.  With that in place you can get iTunes to “Get Album Artwork” for each song.  The album artwork is AWESOME.

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection Unboxing October 18, 2011

I know I promised I was going to do a Batman: Arkham City unboxing today for all of you guys, but have you taken a look at just how much Batman: Arkham City content has been posted on this site in the past day or two?  Quite a lot, actually, so I decided to unbox something ELSE that I have been meaning to since this weekend, and that is the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection.

These two games are considered two of the BEST games of the previous console generation, and certainly two of the best games for the Playstation 2.  Unfortunately, as sleeper hits of a previous generation, finding new copies of them can be difficult for people like me who have heard the buzz about them and wanted the opportunity to play the games for the first time.

I know this game is not officially considered a Collector’s Edition, but I do.  It includes special features on the game disc including five behind the scenes documentaries which focus on things like the making of both of the games, and shows a teaser for the next game that the company is working on for the Playstation 3.  It also keeps the extras from the original PS2 releases.  From what I heard it will recognize ICO saves when playing Shadow of the Colossus.

Batman: Arkham City New York Comic Con Preview October 18, 2011

While at the New York Comic Con I caught a preview of Batman: Arkham City, hosted by the developers of the game.  Here is what they showed us.  Be warned, this video contains a MAJOR SPOILER.

Batman: Arkham City is out now for Xbox 360 and PS3.  PC version is coming soon.

New York Comic Con 2011 Ford Display October 14, 2011

Ford was demoing some of their new cars for anyone at the con that wanted to drive them.  There was no chance in Hell I was going to drive a car in NYC traffic, but they were nice looking cars.

It seems Ford has been trying to go for the geek demographic this year.

How to Tell You’re Near Comic Con October 13, 2011

I walked from Grand Central Station to the Convention Center they were hosting the New York Comic Con at.  On the way there I passed some well known landmarks including the Library, Madison Square Garden, and the Empire State Building.

When I saw this on the lamp posts, I knew I was getting close.
