Lost Media – Halo 2’s E3 2003 Introduction Video January 16, 2024
Posted by Maniac in Lost Media, Site Videos.add a comment
Maniac attended his first E3 in 2003, and it was at the time 3 of the best days of his life where he created memories he will forever cherish. However, a major memory of the event has never been reuploaded in the past 20 years (in its entirety). Most people are aware that Halo 2 showed its first gameplay preview at E3 2003, over a year before the game launched, and drew tremendous crowds. That footage has been archived. However, before the preview officially began, E3’s onsite attendees were presented a brief video preshow, with full professional production value, starring Sgt Johnson. That footage is briefly captured in Halo 2’s official making of documentary, and a few offscreen versions of it have found their way online, but to this day the raw video footage not been archived or re-released in its entirety. Well, Maniac remembers it, and he found a part of it in a very unlikely place. So sit back, and enjoy two frames of something next to nobody has seen in 20 years.
Halo 2 is out now for the Xbox and PC.
We Tested PS5 Storage Upgrades, Here’s What Worked Best January 8, 2024

If you own a PlayStation 5, you’ve probably noticed that your console only offers around 650GB of usable storage. With games topping out at requiring 100GB of space to install, that internal drive is going to fill up quickly. So what is a gamer that wants to play the newest games to do? They UPGRADE!
At the time of writing, Sony allows two methods of upgrading the PS5’s storage capacity. The first is referred to as the EXTERNAL method, where a USB 3.0 Hard Drive is plugged into one of the PS5’s rear USB ports and formatted for external storage similarly to how external storage worked on the PS4. While you can move PS5 games to your external drive, the PS5 itself cannot play PS5 native games directly off an external drive, only PS4 games. The second is referred to as INTERNAL, where a heatsink-equipped M.2 drive is installed inside of the PS5. This requires opening up the PS5 with a #1 philips head screwdriver, and physically adding the drive to the console’s M.2 socket. That said, you are able to play PS4 and PS5 games from an M.2 drive, provided it meets Sony’s minimum performance ratings.
We attempted both an external solution using the Samsung T7 USB 3.0 drive, and an internal solution the Samsung 980 M.2 drive. Either drive offered 2TB of storage capacity. After EXTENSIVE testing, here’s what our real-world results were.
Memories of Maniac – School Computer Labs December 21, 2023

Maniac has made it no secret on this website that most of the useful education he received did not come from school, it came from playing video games while he was growing up. That being said, occasionally he would get to interact with a computer while at school, and these experiences were so infrequent as he considers each one to be a groundbreaking event in his life.
So what were early school computer labs like? What computers did he use and what software could he run on them? Watch and find out!

Gaming With Long Hair, When Is it A Problem? December 10, 2023
Posted by Maniac in Editorials, Site Videos.add a comment
For the longest time, gaming has been seen as a rebellious activity engaged in by young people who were intelligent enough to make use of the technology of their time. Since their parents and older family never grew up with the same technology and were not familiar with it, they viewed gaming as a hostile activity. Somehow, this made gaming a rebellious action, and it was in good company.
Before gaming was considered a rebellious activity, counter-culture activists engaged in their own form of rebellion, they allowed their hair to grow (Ed Note: “Gasp!”).
Well, I can attest, I absolutely hate haircuts and I HATE the appearance of my hair when it is short. So, here’s an entire video of Maniac talking about gaming with hair. Are there any actual legitimate problems of having long hair when you play video games? Watch and find out!
