“Waiting for Halo 4” Deleted Scenes April 11, 2013

Recently, we posted a video titled “Waiting for Halo 4” which was a fully-produced 30-minute documentary where Maniac talked about what it was like waiting years for the release of Halo 4, his history with the Halo franchise, and what has made the series last for as long as it has.

Well, there was a lot more we shot for that documentary than what ended up in the final version.  In fact, we ended up shooting well over an hour’s worth of footage and planned to shoot even more.

Recently, a fan requested that we release a DVD or Blu-Ray of the documentary.  Well, we can’t do that, but we can do the next best thing, and that is release a DVD style special feature online that anyone can watch.  Maniac has decided to finish the scenes that were cut from the documentary (and even shoot a scene that was scrapped in the planning phase!) and release them as a short featurette.

Included with the scenes is a special introduction by Maniac with some behind the scenes information on why the scenes were cut.  Enjoy.  And remember, if you’re interested in checking out the final cut of the full documentary, “Waiting for Halo 4” you can view it here on our site!

Maniac takes a look at over half a dozen games that came out between February and March 2013.  All of them were backed by a major property and had a huge marketing blitz behind them.  Also, almost all of them were released with premium Collector’s Editions.

The past two months were a bigger season for game releases than Christmas!  Maniac takes a look and tries to find out why.

It’s been a staple of the internet for many years now to try some new or exotic food or beverage and review it for everyone to see.  We haven’t done one in quite a while, but that is about to be rectified.  While in New York City for the Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon review, Maniac and Princess Angel picked up some Super Mario 3-DEES candy.  They’re officially licensed by Nintendo and are made into the likeness of popular Mario characters like Mario, Yoshi and Donkey Kong.  They can come in regular and sour flavors.

Maniac happens to like sour candies like Sour Patch Kids, and decided to try out the new sour flavor Super Mario candies and see how good they are.  With Luigi’s hat on, lets take a look.

The original Luigi’s Mansion hasn’t seen a sequel since the days of the GameCube.  This past weekend, all of that changed.  Princess Angel and I happened to be in New York City on Saturday, where Nintendo World was hosting a huge release party for Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and the new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game.  Because we decided to join in the festivities, we got a copy of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon a day early, and a whole bunch of other goodies to go along with it.

So take a look at what we picked up, and what’s inside Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is out now exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS.

Palm VIIx Review March 15, 2013

There’s been a lot of love across the web for Palm recently.  With SmartPhones being as common a technology as a wallet, we owe a lot to Palm for making the first personal electronic devices.  While they couldn’t make phone calls, they had a lot going for them.  They had a well designed interface, appropriate response time, and a wide range of supported software and accessories.

Thirteen years after getting one, Maniac reviews the Palm VIIx, the PDA that he took across the entire country from 2000-2001, and which has many of the same features that today’s SmartPhones now use. It uses Palm OS 3.5 and was the last model Palm released before moving to the M series, which used Palm OS 4 and had a new form-factor.  Does it still work after 13 years?  Take a watch!
