We’d like to announce that we are setting aside some of our normal programming to announce this website’s very first direct sponsor, Bawls!

We’ve been spreading the word about Bawls on this website for years now. It was pretty ahead of its time, a high caffeinated soda that actually tastes great. It has a cult following amongst PC Gamers, mostly because it would commonly be sold at stores like CompUSA, which is where I first got my hands on some.

So, lo and behold, the makers of Bawls got wind of our support and sent us a case of Bawls!  Take a look!

This is the weekend of X Games Aspen 2016 and I can’t think of anything I’d rather drink during this year’s Halo 5 tournament. Thank you again to Bawls and all of you for your support.  More Bawls content will be coming this week, at least until the Bawls run out!

Following up on our successful Let’s Play series this weekend, Maniac decides to take a step back from the PS4 and stream an Xbox One game.

When you think about Xbox exclusive games, you think about Halo, and what better Xbox One exclusive game to show off than Halo 5: Guardians?  We’ll be playing the first two levels from the game. Along the way, Maniac will not only talk about how the game holds up in comparison to other Halo titles, he will help a commenter fix his controller, give his gripes about the difficulty in finding Halo 5-branded Axe gift packs, and speculate about the story for Halo 6 and Halo 7!

Halo 5: Guardians is out now exclusively for Xbox One.

If you have read anything about Nintendo in the past year you’ve probably read about the incredible success of their Amiibo line. Designed as a series of figurines based on Nintendo characters, Amiibos can be used in various 3DS and Wii U titles like Super Smash Bros.  Depending on the game, they can be used to assist in gameplay or enable exclusive in-game features.

I don’t think anyone could have imagined just how successful Amiibo would be. Stores can’t keep these things on shelves!

So, we decided to take out own look at this product. Settle back as we unbox a special 3-pack of Amiibo figures, which can be used to unlock exclusive missions in the game Splatoon.

Splatoon is out now exclusively on the Wii U.

Pokemon Day 2016 – Pokemon How-To Videos January 12, 2016

As we continue with Pokémon Day 2016, we decided to republish a few helpful videos that we’ve produced over the years for new Pokémon Trainers who may not be totally technically savvy. There really are some great extra features that are possible with this generation of gaming handhelds, and we’re going to share some tips to help you make the most out of your Pokémon journey.

First up, we have a video for anyone playing any 3DS-native Pokémon game. If you’re having trouble bringing your game online it could be because your game needs to be updated. With the incredible technical capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS systems, the necessity to keep your hardware and games up to date is essential.  Updating 3DS games is more of a straightforward process with recent firmware upgrades, but if you’re not using a 3DS with up to date firmware, it can become a bit more of an involved process, especially if you’re running a physical copy of the game and you don’t have the game inserted into your handheld game system.  So here’s a detailed how-to video which will show you the most thorough way to update your 3DS games.

If you’re playing Pokémon Black Version 2 or Pokémon White Version 2 on a 3DS system, I recommend downloading the game Pokémon Dream Radar from the Nintendo eShop. Any Pokémon captured in that game can be transferred to Pokémon Black Version 2 or Pokémon White Version 2, and here’s a video on how to do it.

I recommend checking out the Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Pokémon Omega Ruby official demo, even if you already have the full version of either title, because you can get some extra content in the demo you can bring to the full version of the game.  Here’s how to transfer that content from the demo to the full game once you’ve unlocked it.

Enjoying Pokémon Day 2016?  More Pokémon content is on its way!

FAIL: The Massive Plot Hole in the Movie PIXELS January 4, 2016

Welcome back to FAIL, our ongoing video series where we take a look at Hollywood’s biggest blunders both behind the camera and in front of it.

By all accounts, the Adam Sandler movie PIXELS was a complete disappointment. While it had great special effects it suffered from unfunny jokes, constant plot holes and a completely miscast lead actor.

That’s right, this film has plot holes big enough to drive a truck through. In fact, most of the film’s plot holes are so huge, most of them have already been talked about by the online community. However, there is one glaring plot hole in this movie that nobody has seemed to notice up until this point and up to the time of posting hasn’t even been published as a goof on the movie’s official IMDB page.

We at GameXcess.net pride ourselves on finding errors that others miss, and oh boy do we have a big error to tell you about.  So sit back and relax as Maniac tells you a story about the plot hole the Internet seems to have missed.  Just be aware, there will be spoilers.

Crystal Pepsi Memories January 2, 2016

Happy New Year everyone!  It looks like the first announcement this website is going to be making in 2016 will be that Crystal Pepsi is coming back to supermarket shelves this summer!

For those of you who don’t know, Crystal Pepsi was a clear cola beverage released by Pepsi in 1993. It was expected to be a massive success for Pepsi, but for some reason it just didn’t sell as well as projected, and it was pulled from shelves within a few months.

However, there are still many people out there that fondly remember drinking it and have been demanding its return. For the past few years, online personalities like Brad Jones and the LA Beast have been petitioning Pepsi to rerelease the product.  After years of asking, it looks like Pepsi will finally relaunch the product this summer!

I was a child of the 90s and I was lucky enough to try Crystal Pepsi back when it was first released. To celebrate the impending relaunch of this product, here are some of my memories about it.

Can’t wait to try it again.
