FAIL: How Disney Got Back Oswald November 8, 2017

Welcome back to the highly-anticipated return of FAIL, where we look at Hollywood’s epic business management failures. Today, we’re going to be talking about a FAIL that ended up working out very well for one major company and for an all-new generation.

Before Mickey Mouse was a twinkle in Walt Disney’s eye, Walt created Oswald The Lucky Rabbit for Universal Studios. After Walt decided to leave Universal to start his own company, he was told he could not take Oswald with him, and Walt went on to create Mickey Mouse. Since they both were created by Walt Disney, Oswald The Lucky Rabbit was considered by many Disney historians to be Mickey Mouse’s brother. Sadly, Universal had kept the legal rights to Oswald in one of their vaults for decades, despite the fact they had done nothing with him for nearly a century.

Who would have thought that a contract renewal for famous sportscaster Al Michaels would trigger a series of events to bring Oswald The Lucky Rabbit back to his true owners?

Pokemon Go Plus iOS 11 Testing October 10, 2017

Since we got the Pokémon Go Plus BlueTooth accessory, we’ve been having a few issues running the accessory while the iPhone was in standby.  The Pokémon Go app would either crash during standby or randomly disconnect from the phone, making a major selling point of Pokémon Go Plus moot. We predicted this was most likely a minor bug that could have been brought on in iOS 11, and would be fixed in an update.

Yesterday, Niantic released an update for the iPhone version of Pokémon Go, and we wanted to finally test how well the app runs with the Pokémon Go Plus accessory while in standby.  So we pulled out an old camera and decided to film a walk to see if there is any difference in how Pokémon Go will measure distance if you use the Plus while your phone is in standby. Our results will surprise you!

What do you think of our results? Post a comment below with your thoughts!

How to Attach a Pokemon Go Plus Wrist Strap September 25, 2017

This weekend we unboxed the Pokémon Go Plus, a Bluetooth accessory designed to enhance the functionality of Pokémon Go.  Today, we’ve got another How To video on how to get the most out of it.

Pokémon Go players have two options when carrying the Plus with them, they can either use the attached clip or use the provided wristband.  Since a Pokémon Go Plus won’t work if accidentally put in a washer cycle, I didn’t want to accidentally leave it clipped to my clothes.  I grew up wearing a watch so having something around my wrist I can interact with is more comfortable to me.

Today, we’re going to show you how to attach a Wrist Strap to the Pokémon Go Plus. Before we get started, here’s an important tip: You’ll need a PH00 micro screwdriver to attach the strap, but we were able to change it using a PH000 screwdriver.  Enjoy.

Pokémon Go is out now for Android and iOS devices.

Very few games in my life have left as big an impression on me than Catherine by Atlus.  On the one hand the game is an artistic puzzle game where you have to arrange unusual blocks to climb to the top of a seemingly never ending tower. On the other hand, it is a strongly written narrative giving the player the full control on its potential resolution.

We have been meaning to do a live Let’s Play of Catherine for quite some time now and now that the game is Backwards compatible on the Xbox One, the time has finally come for us to play it to 100% completion. That means we will be going for every Gold Trophy on each puzzle, every factoid and no unnecessary fatalities. Will we succeed?  Watch and find out.

All gameplay footage is provided with full video commentary.

Catherine is out now for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The Xbox 360 version is backwards compatible with the Xbox One and the PS3 version can be streamed on the PlayStation Now service.
