We’ve got a new Tales from IT! Apple has launched their line of custom processors and the computers that have these processors are available for purchase right now. Many friends and peers of mine are finally putting away their 5-10 year old MacBooks for good and upgrading to these new powerful systems.

But what is a Mac user to do with their years and years of files and data, especially if they have not created any backups? Apple will not take any responsibility for your data (unless it’s being stored on the iCloud), so asking a Genius to transfer your files, settings and programs is not an option. You can however, call a different kind of professional.

Watch the video below and find out what it was like to do a complete data transfer to a new M1 Mac. You’ll even get some tips and pointers along the way.

We’re getting a little personal here today as Maniac tells a story about one of his favorite concepts in fiction, Time Travel. Whether you’re a fan of classic games like Chrono Trigger or newer ones like Quantum Break.

But how does Time Travel work, and did these games get it right? Well, Maniac has done plenty of research on the subject in the past twenty-five years and he’s going to talk about it.

Quantum Break is out now for Xbox One and PC. Chrono Trigger is out now for SNES, PS1, Wii, PC and Smart Devices.

HP X360 Chromebook Review December 16, 2020

I think this is the first video review we’ve done on a piece of hardware in a very long time. We spent a lot of the past four months using a Chromebook for work-related purposes, the low specs on the Dell machine we were provided at work left us with a lot to be desired. As we looked for a new computer we could do work with, HP released this Chromebook, the X360, with decent specs, and a glorious 2K touchscreen.

Let’s take a closer look at it. We’re going to tell you what the X360 is capable of, what parts of the laptop we liked and disliked, and then we try gaming on it. Someone on Twitter told me I couldn’t play Cyberpunk 2077 on a Chromebook. They were wrong.

Super Mario Bros Game and Watch Unboxing December 7, 2020

As part of the Super Mario Bros 35th Anniversary Nintendo released this year’s must-have collectors item, the Super Mario Bros Game and Watch.

The original Game and Watch was invented by the man who would go on to create Game Boy and Metroid, the late Gunpai Yokoi. It was designed as a simple electronic game for older executives to pass the time during their commute on mass transit. Unlike the Game Boy, each Game and Watch was a standalone handheld, and while games were not interchangeable they would work as soon as you pulled them out of the box and put some batteries in them. Many games would get released on the platform, and the handheld’s main character would later receive immortality when they re-appeared in Super Smash Bros Melee as the final unlockable character.

It is a standalone gaming handheld that shipped preloaded with the first two l Super Mario Bros games, as well as a clock and Ball game. We were lucky enough to get one of these at launch and here’s our unboxing of it in glorious 4K UHD.

Seriously who else is hoping Nintendo might consider a Legend of Zelda version of this?

Welcome back to Memories of Maniac, where our host tells some of his favorite life stories.

In 2007, I became interested in a movie called Fanboys. Set in the film 1998, it followed several die-hard Star Wars fans, who wished to provide a dying friend of theirs the chance to see Star Wars Episode I. Fanboys would not get theatrically released until 2009, and its release was so limited very few theaters in the US actually ran it. What was I to do? I packed up a friend and spent three hours traveling to NYC to visit the closest theater showing the film. As luck would have it, I wasn’t the only person interested in seeing the film that would be in attendance in the theater that day, a big portion of the film’s cast was also there. Here’s how it happened!

How to Get Fire TV to Go Straight to Your Cable Box When You Turn it On November 9, 2020

We’ve got an important How-To video up for you guys. If you own a television with integrated Fire TV support, you might have noticed that regardless of what application or input you were watching before turning off the TV, it will automatically boot back to the Amazon Home Screen.

This reboot to home “feature” can be frustrating, particularly if you prefer to watch television channels as soon as you hit the power button on the remote. It also can be frustrating if your television’s remote isn’t compatible with your television provider’s set top box, and you don’t want to have to use multiple remotes just to navigate your tv channels and your apps.

So what can you do? Watch this video and find out.

Welcome back to Maniac’s Kitchen, where we review food specifically meant to be enjoyed by gamers. Today, we are going to look into Cup Noodles Stir Fry, a newer product we just recently noticed on the supermarket shelves. Don’t fire up your kettles just yet, these aren’t cooked by boiling water. Instead you’ll need a microwave with room temperature water to fully cook them. Let’s take a look at how this goes!

We ended up buying a whole bunch more instant noodle packs this week and we are willing to review more of them if the demand is there, so post a comment below if you want to see more!
