Thinking about a Twitter Feed June 12, 2010
Posted by Maniac in Site News.add a comment
My internal website software supports Twitter, something that I don’t use. However, since Twitter has finally gotten around to releasing an iPhone application, Twitter is looking like a good prospect. Most professional sites I’ve seen recently will usually include a twitter feed in the sidebar.
Just an idea, I might activate the feed, but do you really want to hear me rambling on about what game achievements I got recently or my up to the minute progress on building new stuff?
gameXcess is now in HD May 27, 2010

The high definition camera I was expecting for the site has arrived today. I’m still in the process of testing it and making sure it runs well and can easily edit, but I will be using it for all further site videos.
The camera’s visual quality is nothing special to write home about but it does shoot 1080p video, and should be a major improvement over our current site videos.
Alan Wake Pre-Order Codes May 22, 2010

For all the viewers of the site, here are the 3 codes that come with the pre-order of Alan Wake (for you shameful few that didn’t preorder).
These codes are first come first served, but remember, you will only be able to redeem a male avatar item if you have a male avatar and you will only be able to redeem a female avatar item if you have a female avatar. You will not be able to redeem a female avatar item code on a male avatar and vice versa.
Theme will go to whoever gets to it first. Good luck being the first to redeem them!
Male Avatar Code: RHGH2-GGW9F-TFG29-7RXBP-68V2W
Female Avatar Code: PYRY7-22PYP-2WP66-MDG7W-BVJT8
Exclusive Theme Code: JD3KG-HPRCF-7276H-3FQYV-K4KQJ
When someone succesfully redeems the code, can you please comment that the code is no longer active?

I’m Number 1 In South Korea! April 15, 2010

I don’t usually get awards for anything, but I wanted to share this with the readers. The last video I did for the site, the Splinter Cell Conviction Collector’s Edition Unboxing, won some accolades. Yesterday, I was ranked in the top ten in Gaming videos in South Korea. I was ranked in the top hundred in general videos in South Korea. My YouTube account has seen an incredible influx of hits, comments, and subscriptions.
For those of you checking out the site because of my YouTube video, welcome, it’s safer here.
Houston We Have a Banner! April 2, 2010

You might notice that the site banner no longer looks like I’m selling or offering to fix motherboards. That’s because someone has been kind enough to take some time and make the site a banner and I freaking love it! Special thanks to Matt Jersey for his hard work. The banner looks great and is exactly what I was hoping for.
Expect some new content very soon!
Site Appearance Update Coming Soon March 31, 2010
Posted by Maniac in Site News.add a comment
As the site matures anyone who’s been visiting it repeatedly will notice some minor tweaks have been done to the site to improve it’s performance and streamline its interface. I’ve been doing that quite a bit recently (perhaps too much, ha) but it is in an effort to make the site more unique and professional.
Pretty soon a major appearance update will be coming. Someone has just been kind enough to submit to me his initial design for a site banner, and it was so good on a first shot that I would put it up in a second if he had told me it was his final attempt.
My hope is to also bring more writers into the site with editorials. I’ve talked to many opinionated people who have plenty to say, and hopefully a few will be willing to contribute to the site.
Also more unique video content will be coming as well. I’m currently in the process of filming a short film for the site. Once I have it entirely filmed I will edit and upload it as soon as possible, but it might be a week or so for that to happen.
New Layout March 26, 2010

If you’ve been to the site at some point before today you had probably noticed the site’s looking a bit different. Well I had the day off from work and I decided to start looking into the backend of the site tools and start ripping out what I didn’t like, adding what I did, and tweaking everything else. Feel free to comment what you think of it on the comment’s section.
Also, I am in need of a site banner. The rules are it has to be 730×140. If you know how to make banners and want to make one for the site, so long as it says gameXcess on it and meets those requirements, I would gladly take a look at it and consider using it.
Have a good weekend everyone!
God of War III Release Midnight! March 15, 2010

Tonight many GameStops across the country will be releasing The new God of War game at 12:01am, the soonest they are legally allowed. I will be at one of them getting my Ultimate Edition.
I’ll try to shoot some interviews with the people there but as per usual no one I know is willing to help me with the work so I’ll be shooting all of it myself quick and dirty if I can shoot it at all.
I’ll also try to do a UE unboxing before the night ends, but seriously I have no idea why the UE has such a large box, there’s barely anything in it. The majority of the content is download only including the feature length documentary starring Peter “Robocop” Weller.
Thinking of Moving Editorials March 8, 2010
Posted by Maniac in Site News.add a comment
I’m just rambling here, but after running the site for almost a week I’ve noticed something pretty glaring. The majority of gaming news really doesn’t come out on the weekends.
Originally I wanted to have my weekly official editorials come out on Fridays, because I kind of figured with the weekend coming the news would probably be lighter on that day than any of the other four. Mondays I figured would be the biggest gaming news days.
Well turned out I was wrong. Friday had a ton of other news which moved my editorial down very quickly, and Saturday and Sunday had well, none. So I’m thinking about posting up Editorials to Saturdays from now on, and even if you’re a work based web reader, it should be the first thing you read (or just about) on Monday mornings when you get back in.
I’m also thinking about posting more than just official editorials, such as top tens (or whatever number) which I already have a few up ready to go. Maybe that could be for Wednesdays. We’ll see how the news starts coming through. I’m also going to be posting more information about myself and my background in the about me page. The blurb on the sidebar is short and sweet and will probably stay the same as it is, but if you want to read my full life story, you can check out the link on the top of the page. Thanks for visiting the site!
