Enormous Free Update Releasing for Control: Ultimate Edition March 10, 2025

Remedy fans and owners of Control: Ultimate Edition are getting a late Christmas present this week! When Control was first released on its initial platforms back in 2019, particularly for the PS4, specific preorder incentives and platform specific content was released on the original game. This included exclusive in-game player skins, and an entire series of missions starring the legendary Game God Hideo Kojima. These incentives did not carry over to the Control: Ultimate Edition, and until now, there was no way to use any of the content or play those missions on our modern consoles.

Today, Remedy has confirmed that all copies of Control: Ultimate Edition will receive a free patch which will automatically unlock all of the previously locked in-game content. The patch has already been released on Steam, but they have promised that the update will come to the Epic, GOG, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions VERY soon.

This is fantastic news, as Kojima’s missions were some of my most memorable in-game moments when I played them on the original PS4 version of the game.

Control: Ultimate Edition is out now for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Halo Animated Short Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian January 27, 2025

The official Halo YouTube channel just released a major blast from the past with very little fanfare. In 2009, Microsoft released the very first non-gaming dedicated application, dubbed Halo Waypoint. It allowed gamers to unlock exclusive digital Halo content for the Xbox as well as offered entirely original Halo video content. Part of that content was a series of animated short films which adapted several stories from the Halo novels. One of those stories was The Mona Lisa, which was rereleased this past Halloween. Another was Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian, which was just rereleased earlier tonight!

If you’ve never seen it before or (like me) haven’t seen it in over ten years, you can watch it below!

If memory serves at least one more short film from Halo Waypoint has yet to be re-released. This team would go on to adapt the original Halo novel The Fall of Reach into a multi-part animated film, and that can still be found on several streaming services.

Halo: Infinite is out now for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Just be aware that with this update, the Apple Intelligence feature is no longer optional on supported devices, installing the update will force the Apple Intelligence feature ON, and you MUST disable it manually on a per-device basis after concluding the update.

Until Dawn’s First Movie Trailer January 21, 2025

Until Dawn was one of my favorite games for the Playstation 4! It had an incredible story performed by an talented cast and featured a branching storyline that made people want to replay it over and over again. Now, Sony is on the cusp of releasing a feature film based upon the game’s premise, and it will be in theaters soon. Here’s the official trailer!

I’m a little disappointed they’ve chosen to create a new story and hired a new cast, but the filmmakers are making it clear that this film is meant to be a new story in the Until Dawn universe, with a new mechanic (the repeating days) to adapt the gameplay to a linear film. Time will tell if this ends up working out, but I’m willing to keep an open mind. I did REALLY love Sony’s previous film adaptation for Gran Tursismo.
