Nintendo Announces Nintendo Network Expansion Price October 15, 2021

Earlier this month, Nintendo announced they would be offering an expansion tier to their Nintendo Network online service for the Switch. In this expansion, Nintendo says they’ll be offering the chance to play preselected N64 and Sega Genesis titles. Today, we now know what the cost of the expansion will be. The total price to access the Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games…is $49US a year. A whopping $30 increase over the current plan. Here’s the announcement video.

I’m sorry but that’s just too high a price for me. Especially since Nintendo won’t be offering very many N64 and Genesis games at launch. Maybe if they offered EVERY game ever made on both platforms, the $50 a year price would be justified.

Hoonigan Builds a Real-Life Warthog October 14, 2021

Halo’s M12-LRV, otherwise known as the Warthog, is one of the most iconic vehicles in the history of media. From the first minute you got behind the wheel, gaming was changed forever. It’s a four wheel drive Jeep with a 50 caliber chaingun in the backseat. At the time of its release, driving in a shooter video game was almost unheard of, and it set the standard for all future console games. The controls were absolutely flawless. And let’s be honest, it is so cool.

Officially, three Warthogs have been built in real life. The first was made by WETA for the Halo feature film that never happened. It later appeared in Halo: Landfall and Halo 4: Forward Onto Dawn. As far as I know that one is currently at WETA in New Zealand. The second was a 3D printed custom vehicle made to promote Halo 4. That is currently at the Patterson in Hollywood. The third was made by Hershund for Halo: Outpost Discovery. It’s whereabouts are currently unknown.

Now, we have a fourth. Hoonigan has been building a Warthog capable of hitting 1,000 horsepower to celebrate the release of Halo: Infinite. To celebrate the build, they’ve produced this ten-part documentary about its creation, and the final part was posted earlier today. Give it a watch!

I think it looks more like a Puma.

Halo: Infinite is coming December 8th, 2021 for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

A minor but important update has just been released for the Apple Watch. It specifically addresses certain bugs discovered in the Apple Watch 3 Series of watches, but it does seem to be compatible with more recent watches including the Series 6.

The new update can be installed from your iPhone right now. Just make sure your watch is plugged in and charging with an active WiFi connection for the update.
