iPhone Apps Updating Like Crazy Before iOS4 Release June 19, 2010

I’ve been noticing that for the past few days all of my iPhone apps have slowly been phasing in updates. The chief listing under release notes have been iOS4 compatibility.

I’ve also noticed a lot of program reviews have complained currently available programs do not work under iOS4, but since it hasn’t been officially released yet, you can ignore those for now, however that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be prepared. If you own an iPhone or iPad, update your apps using the in phone app store before you install the new OS, or you might have problems.

iOS4 will be released for iPhone 3g and iPhone 3gs on June 21st. It will come standard for iPhone 4.

Remedy has announced to the media that the two upcoming DLC episodes for Alan Wake will cost $7 US per episode, not $10 US.  They admit that the 800MS point price tag currently listed in the game’s downloadable content menu was only a placeholder.  The actual cost of the episodes will be 560MS points each.

Owners of new copies of Alan Wake should be able to get the first episode free of charge thanks to the download code included in all new copies of Alan Wake.

The first DLC, “The Signal” will be released July 27th, 2010 only on Xbox Live Marketplace.  It will require a copy of Alan Wake to play.

The official Crysis 2 site has gone live, although I was having some trouble accessing it as I post this up.

Crytek had previously announced that the people who sign up early for this site will be entered into a chance to beta test Crysis 2.

Crysis 2 will be coming to Xbox 360, PC and PS3, and will be in 3D on all platforms.

Fallout Online Taking Beta Test Applications June 18, 2010

Interplay is promoting the beta test of Fallout Online.  Interestingly enough, the site’s official homepage lists Fallout as a trademark of Bethesda.  Interplay, as you know, created the Fallout property, and made several Fallout games for the PC and last generation consoles.  Bethesda was responsible for the critically acclaimed Fallout 3, which was released for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.

Interested gamers can visit the game’s official homepage and enter in their information for a chance to beta test this game.  I’m interested to see just what kind of input Interplay has on this game, or if they’re just doing promotion for a project they have no input in.

iPhone 4 Preorders Sold Out June 17, 2010

Apple and AT&T have stopped taking preorders for the upcoming iPhone 4.  After six hundred thousand preorders they decided to pull the plug.  The product was a lot more popular than anyone was anticipating, and they didn’t even get a preorder from me yet!

I knew these things would be popular when the first specs were released, coupled by just how unbearably positive my own personal experiences with my iPhone 3G has been.

I am going to get one of these some day, although judging from this demand (and my lack of funds, you’ll notice the site’s free of advertising, I don’t get a penny for doing this site, I do it because I can) so it might be a while until I can secure an iPhone 4 of my own.  My iPhone 3G is an essential tool in my life, and it’s time for me to trade it in for something more powerful.

Sims 3 Console E3 2010 Presentation June 16, 2010

A good friend of mine is a religious player of The Sims games.  The series was created by Wil Wright, Game God and “Nerdiest Nerd in all the Computerverse” (his words, don’t believe me? Play The Simpsons Game).  The Sims 3 was a major success on PC and showed EA that had been using harsh DRM on all their games that they could release a game without DRM and it would sell, provided it was good.

Well, the system requirements on Sims 3 were pretty steep, and my friend was unable to play it.  Rest assured, Sims 3 is coming to consoles, and here’s a little preview.

Gears of War defined Co-Op play by offering a persistent character your friends could drop into at any time to take up and control for assistance and help.  Now, the whole squad looks like it can be taken over for 4 player rock and roll.

At the Microsoft E3 Press Conference, CliffyB and three others demonstrated four player cooperative play in the single player campaign of the highly anticipated Gears of War 3.

Gears of War 3 will be released April 2011 for Xbox 360.

Something I’ve been waiting for since it was first announced, a story trailer for Disney’s Epic Mickey has been released.

Game Director Warren Spector (one of the Game Gods) narrates this insightful trailer which shows the story of the upcoming game for the Nintendo Wii, and what you’ll be facing while playing as the King himself, Mickey Mouse.

Epic Mickey is coming Holiday 2010 to the Nintendo Wii.

Here’s a gameplay teaser for the upcoming DLC for Alan Wake, titled “The Signal”

Without spoiling anything, the gameplay reminds me a lot of a cross between regular combat with the game, and the gameplay at the end.  This certainly must have something to do with the ending, and I’m glad to see the DLC is addressing the ending up front instead of making gamers wait for the sequel.

The Signal, the first Alan Wake DLC will be free to all owners of new retail copies of the game on July 17th, redeemable with the included code.  Alan Wake is only on Xbox 360.
