Game Boys: The Animated Series Launches February 4, 2013

One of the first reviews we did for this website was a review of “Game Boys”, a film directed by Brad Jones, who is known on the internet as The Cinema Snob. The movie told the story of Scott, a twenty-something obsessed with all things retro and his retro gaming enthusiast friends. When Scott suffers a bad breakup, his friends try to cheer him up with a gaming night and try to convince him to ask the cute girl from the video store to be his date. It was a sweet movie with a good heart we enjoyed a lot here on the site.
A few months ago Jones announced that he was going to follow-up Game Boys with an animated series featuring the voice talent of the cast of the original movie and artwork by noted supervillian Andrew Dickman.
Brad Jones has released the first episode of Game Boys: The Animated Series to his website this weekend. In this first episode, titled “Poker” we see just how some old school gamers play cards…and paticularly what they bet with. You can check it out here.
If you’re interested in more, you can watch further episodes as they release, as well as the original live-action movie which it spawned from for free on thecinemasnob.com.

Even with the power of Phil Collins, EA is not content with releasing just one trailer this week for their next game. With only five days left until release, EA has released a story gameplay trailer for Dead Space 3.
Up until this point we’ve only gotten teases and snippets of the game’s story. Now, what is at stake is being laid out before us. If Dead Space 3 had its trailer made by the Motion Picture Association, this is what it would look like.
Dead Space 3 is coming February 5th, 2013 to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
Bioshock Infinite – City in the Sky Trailer January 31, 2013

We’re two months away from the release of Bioshock Infinite and Irrational Games has released a brand new trailer for the game today.
This new look at the game shows a bit more than just action, we get to take a brief look at what is going on with the people who inhabit this strange city of Columbia.
But what seemed to be very unique about this game is the religious overtones. The first Bioshock game made it clear that the city of Rapture did not allow religion, and yet the people wanted it anyway so badly that they ended up smuggling bibles into the city as if it were contraband. Here, religion is much more prominent, with people watching 1984-ish screens of someone preaching.
We also get a fresh look at some new abilities that you could be able to use in the game, or perhaps they are hallucinations. Check it out for yourselves.
Bioshock Infinite is coming March 29th, 2013 to the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

If you’re interested in reading my preview of the game’s multiplayer component, you can read my experiences with the game at PAX EAST 2012 here.

God of War: Ascension Super Bowl Commercial Teaser January 30, 2013

Looks like Kratos will be making an appearance during this year’s Super Bowl commercial block. Today, Sony has released a teaser for their next trailer for God of War: Ascension. They say that the full version will air during the Super Bowl.
The commercial appears to be in Live-Action (at least the parts we’ve seen in the teaser), and any God of War fan will probably recognize them as Kratos’s darkest memories. In Ascension, which takes place at the earliest point in the God of War timeline, Kratos will have the freshest memories of the horrible moments that earned him the name The Ghost of Sparta.
Super Bowl 2013 will air live on Sunday, February 3rd, 2013. No word yet exactly when during the Super Bowl the full version of this trailer will air.
God of War: Ascension is coming March 12th, 2013 exclusive to the Playstation 3.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Special Unlockables January 29, 2013

A few weeks ago we got a taste of the new gameplay capabilites in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Konami teased that players would be able to unlock new armor and weapons in the game’s menu. This could change Raiden’s appearance for the funny or allow players to customize their gameplay styles.
Well, Konami has greatly expanded on that in these new trailers they released today. If you’re in the States and ordered the game from Amazon.com, this is the special Inferno Armor you’ll be getting with your armor.
If you preordered the game at GameStop, you’ll not only be getting a special 25 page book featuring the artwork of Yoji Shinkwa, you’ll also be getting the special Cyborg Ninja Armor and FOX blade.
I’ve heard people also call this the Gray Fox skin. I’m pretty sure that Cyborg Ninja is the offical term for this in the States, and I’m pretty sure they are the same thing. Gray Fox was the original Cyborg Ninja in Metal Gear Solid, and let me tell you, how much my friends and I would talk during lunch how much we wished we could play the entire original game with the Cyborg Ninja’s armor. Sadly, that wasn’t possible in the original version of the game, but we would get a small taste of it in the MGS: VR Missions disc. This may be a US only promotion, as I have also heard that UK players will get the Cyborg Ninja Armor included with their game without the need of a seperate download.
Don’t worry there’s going to be a lot of other armor and weapons you will be able to unlock in the game for those who didn’t preorder. First up, here’s a trailer that shows some special swords that Raiden will be able to swing around. And remember guys, in this game you can cut almost anything.
Well, with all this specialized armor and weapons, Raiden is going to need to have one heck of a tough enemy to merit all this, and this next trailer details the cyborg troops that Raiden will face.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is coming February 19th, 2013 to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
iOS 6.1 Released January 29, 2013

Apple has released iOS 6.1 to their compatible devices. The update expands 4G LTE support to a wider range of wireless providers, and brings some new features and bug fixes.
If you’ve got yourself an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, make sure to run a Software Update today while on a WiFi network to check if your device is ready for 6.1. To do that go into the Settings Menu from the device’s main screen and select General, and then Software Update from the list. You can also update your device through iTunes. All you need to do is select update from iTunes while the device is connected to your computer. Just make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes installed.
You’re going to need A LOT of free space for this update. On the iPhone 4, the upgrade is only a 78MB download, and yet it requires 1GB of free space to do a wireless software update.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 Multiplayer Trailer January 29, 2013

Looks like Nintendo Land will not be the last time we’ll have a multiplayer Luigi’s Mansion game. Nintendo has announced that Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon will feature a special four-player multiplayer campaign called Hunter Mode, where players on separate 3DS devices can team up and search for ghosts.
The objective of Hunter Mode is to team up and tackle the mansion cooperatively, finding and clearing ghosts on each floor.
A four-man team of Luigis hunting for ghosts? I know who to call now.
Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon is coming in March 2013 exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS.
