iOS 6.1.3 Released March 21, 2013

An incremental update was released today for various devices running iOS 6.1, such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.  The update fixes a vulnerability in the device’s lock screen, and may offer some other minor bug fixes.

Be sure to check the Software Update feature of your device in the General Menu in the Settings app to see if your device is compatible with the update to download it over a WiFi connection.  If you don’t have a WiFi connection, you can sync your device to iTunes and select the option to Check for Updates during the iTunes sync process if you prefer to update your device while it is connected to your computer.  An iPhone 4 updating on its own without a computer took less than a half hour to download and install.

Bioshock Infinite TV Commercial March 20, 2013

For those of you who may be watching TV this week, you may have seen this commercial hit the airwaves.  Less than a week away from the game’s release, here is the complete, uncut version of the TV Commercial for Bioshock Infinite.  While it doesn’t seem to include any direct gameplay footage, it looks like it captures the spirit of the game’s story.  I can’t wait to see if this scene, or a scene like it, is included in the final version of the game.  Its graphic, emotional and just plain awesome.

What’s interesting to note is that the commercial does state that the complete version of the original Bioshock is being included with the PS3 version of the game. I don’t think that had been mentioned prior to this.

Bioshock Infinite is coming March 26th, 2013 to the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Spartans and Trojans, hear me.  Prior to the release of God of War: Ascension, Sony had a special promotion running on their official website called Rise of the Warrior.  On the site, you could read a special comic series by artist Christopher Shy, answer some riddles, and post your progress on Twitter and Facebook for special points.  New chapters were being released on a regular basis, and Sony promised that all of their users who participated in the game would be able to redeem special weapons and armor that was unique to the game depending on how many points they accumulated by the end of the promotion.  Well, the promotion ended last night, but for those of you who played, you’ll be happy to know that all of the unlockable content offered been released and can be redeemed right now if you’ve earned it.

If you participated in Rise of the Warrior, you’ll just need to log into the Official Website and copy down your unique Playstation Store download code.  You’ll need a Playstation Network account and access to the Playstation Store to redeem your code.  Once the code is redeemed, the content will simply unlock, you will not need to download anything to your PS3.

God of War: Ascension is out now exclusive to the Playstation 3.

Official LocoCycle “Meet Pablo” Trailer March 15, 2013

Since first playing Comic Jumper, I’ve been an enormous fan of Twisted Pixel, and all the games they have produced.  After meeting them at PAX East 2012, they seemed like a great bunch of guys with a great sense of humor, which is something very difficult to pull off in a game.

Twisted Pixel has released the first close look at their next major title, LocoCycle, which was premiered at last year’s E3.  They have announced that actor Freddy Rodriguez will be starring in the game.  He will play Pablo, I.R.I.S.’s trusty Spanish-speaking mechanic.  Pablo got his leg caught up in the cycle.  The vehicle believes he is there to help it, and Pablo just wants to get free!

LocoCycle is coming “soon” and has not specified what platforms it will be on yet.

The Phantom Pain at GDC 2013 March 15, 2013

Last night, Geoff Keighley did an interview with the man who claimed to be the director of the highly anticipated game, The Phantom Pain, which was announced at Spike’s Video Game Awards Show at the end of last year.  For some reason, the man he was interviewing, who claimed to be Joakim Mogren, had his entire face bandaged up, very similar to the game’s main character.  He claimed he had been in an accident, and that he should be fine by the time of this year’s Game Developer’s Conference.

To prove his identity, he showed Keighley some never before seen images of the game on his iPad.  After taking a close look at the screenshots, Geoff noticed that they bore the watermark of the FOX Engine, the same engine being developed at Konami that is powering Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.  This seems to confirm something that I had speculated earlier.

Mogren said he was going to be at this year’s GDC during the interview, however after having personally checked the current GDC schedule, there doesn’t seem to be any panel or event on the official schedule which lists The Phantom Pain, Mogren, or it’s developer, Moby Dick Studios.  However, Hideo Kojima’s team is scheduled to present the FOX Engine Wednesday at 11PST.

Could this be the proof that The Phantom Pain is in fact the next Metal Gear Solid game?  Well, it seems that all will be revealed at this year’s GDC.  You can watch the entire interview with Joakim Mogren here on GameTrailers.com.

Tonight on Spike TV, Geoff Keighley will be interviewing the director of The Phantom Pain, Joakim Mogren, for the show GameTrailers.TV.  A lot of rumors have been circulating about the true purpose of this game and the true intention of the developers who are making it, and from the looks of it, tonight’s interview is sure to make gamers ask more questions than get answers.

Keighley has tweeted that during the interview Mogren had provided him some never before seen images of the game on his iPad, giving credence to the fact the man he was interviewing was in fact the game’s director, Keighley has linked an image of Mogren on his Instagram profile and THIS IS THE IMAGE OF THE MAN HE INTERVIEWED.  Wow.

For those of you who don’t know what’s going on with The Phantom Pain, take a look at the game’s latest trailer and my analysis of it here.  GameTrailers.TV will air tonight at 1:00 AM EST on Spike TV and Spike TV HD.

God of War: Ascension 1.02 Patch Released March 13, 2013

A 1.02 patch was released today for God of War: Ascension, and if you haven’t downloaded it yet, it will automatically download to your PS3 the next time you load the game up.  This is the second official patch released for the game, as the game’s 1.01 patch was already available for download on the game’s release day.  No patch notes were included with the update and there doesn’t seem to be a mention of the patch’s release on the game’s official site, so I have no idea what it does.

After playing the game a bit with the patch, I may have noticed the single player campaign to be a little bit smoother, but I can’t confirm for certain if this is what the patch did.

UPDATE:  One of my readers has posted that the update alters the name of the controversial “Bros Before Hos” Trophy which Sony said they intended to change with a patch a few days ago.  As that is a secret trophy that is not listed until it is unlocked, I couldn’t confirm that was what was changed in the patch and I apologize for missing it.

God of War: Ascension is out now for the Playstation 3.

Quick note for those of you who are playing or plan to play Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on the Playstation 3.  The VR Mission DLC pack which was promised at the end of the “Bad Day” TV Commercial has been released for Free to all PS3 owners, and you can download it right now through the Playstation Store.  Konami has announced this content is PS3 exclusive and sadly may not be coming to the Xbox 360.  Take a look at the DLC’s official trailer.

Sadly, this promotion is not going to be free forever, and it looks like Sony will start charging for the content on April 3rd.  If you have access to the Playstation 3, I recommend downloading it ASAP.

UPDATE:  Konami has confirmed in this press release that two more VR Missions (dubbed the Jetstream and Blade Wolf missions) will be coming in April to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is out now for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
