Ladies and gentlemen, Ross Scott.

This is a truly upsetting outcome for a campaign many gamers are seeing as our last and only hope to protect us from the gaming industry’s push for more anti-consumer policies. Ross clearly had pure intentions with his campaign, but he believed he lacked the audience to get his message to the widest masses. Still, I will be looking forward to his next project.

It’s Sunday, time for a new Gaming History you Should Know, where we highlight some of the best independently produced gaming documentaries from across the web. Today, we’re striking while the iron is hot and featuring a documentary that just got released. An enduring legacy of classic literature has always been the character of Nancy Drew. Published in the books by Simon and Schuster, Nancy the girl detective has solved countless mysteries and may have single handedly saved the world more than once. But Nancy Drew has not been relegated to the bookshelves, she’s headlined feature-films, television and yes, even video games.

I first learned about Nancy Drew games when I saw a let’s play of the game where Nancy went to Japan by the creator formally known as That Dude in the Suede which may now be considered lost media. Since then, I’ve seen Nancy Drew point-and-click PC adventure games on retail store shelves, in fact my wife even had a few of them when she was growing up.

To date over twenty Nancy Drew games were released for the personal computer. How have these games endured for so long? I had no idea just how it happened, and that its initial spark came from a company famous for laserdisc arcade games! Today, we’re going to highlight the work of YouTube channel Bumbles McFumbles which did an incredible documentary about the history of this gaming franchise. Give it a watch!

Happy Free RPG Day 2025! Never forget that many of the video games we’ve been playing over the past 35 years were originally based upon rules that were created for gamers to play on tabletops worldwide with just pen, paper, some dice and their imaginations. Today, select local hobby shops across the US are going to have sample RPG sourcebooks for curious new customers. Some may even have exclusive events and promotions taking place as well.

If you’d like to see what is going on in your area, check out the event’s official website! Have fun!

For the past forty years, since the original Star Wars was released on the silver screen, people across the world have wished they could get the chance to fly the fastest spaceship in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon. Five years ago, Disney opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge over at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, and its anchor attraction was the incredible interactive simulator ride Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Earlier this year, we finally got our chance to ride it for ourselves.

Unlike a static ride experience, the Millennium Falcon will respond in real-time to the reactions of its crew. Because few people in the world have any experience flying a spacecraft capable of reaching point five past lightspeed, the vast majority of onride films we’ve watched typically involved the Falcon SMASHING into literally EVERYTHING. Well, we had twenty-five years of experience flying the Falcon through various video games, and it turned out this experience was instrumental in assisting us with flying the Falcon correctly. Within three flights, we discovered and confirmed how to get the best possible in-ride experience, and now we wanted to share those tips with all of you.

So what secrets did we discover about the ride, and how can you get the best experience when you ride it yourselves? Watch the video below and find out!

One of the best games that caught my eye was during this year’s Summer Games Fest was the independent game MIXTAPE. Set in the time of the 90s, it follows several people who are planning the next step of their lives.

Shortly after Summer Games Fest wrapped, the game’s developer posted this brief look behind the scenes of the game. It’s not very in depth, but it does do a good job to show just what kind of people are making this game.

MIXTAPE is coming “soon” to PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S.

The guys over at Remedy have just released the next game in the Control universe, a multiplayer spin off called FBC Firebreak!

If you’re familiar with the events of Control, you’d know that it ended with the FBC still under lockdown but fully under the command of its new Director. Now it is six years later, The Hiss are still in the building, and the lockdown has not been lifted. So what do you say we watch this orientation video, shall we?

FBC Firebreak is out now for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Nintendo just released this trailer for what looks like a brand-new game set in the Splatoon universe, and it has a giant NINTENDO SWITCH 2 logo attached to it!

Splatoon was without a doubt my favorite multiplayer game of the Wii U’s generation, and I felt that Splatoon 2 was an improvement on the first in nearly every way when it launched on the original Switch. I was very surprised to see that no Splatoon game was announced alongside the Switch 2 reveal, but I was willing to give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt that they would likely have one coming to the platform eventually. Now, it looks like that faith may have paid off!
