Gaming History You Should Know – History of The Five Nights at Freddy’s (Unbuilt) Theme Park Ride October 30, 2023

Since the first game was released, Five Nights at Freddy’s has bloomed from an PC cult classic to a well-known phenomenon. Millions of people have played its games, read its books, and purchased its toys. The next logical step for a franchise this popular is to go to Hollywood. This past weekend, the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie was released to theaters (and Peacock) and became one of its production studio’s highest grossing new films. We were actually able to watch the film on Friday, and our group, ranging from die-hard long time fans, to a merely curious attendee all found it quite enjoyable.

With Hollywood success for the franchise all but assured, the next logical step would be produce a Five Nights at Freddy’s theme park attraction. Sadly, as of the time this is being published no theme parks have announced they’re planning to build a ride based on Five Nights at Freddy’s. However, if you did some digging around you would be surprised to learn that the franchise’s theme park rights are currently owned by one of the biggest ride developers in the world, Sally Corporation!

Sally is known for making some great theme park rides across the world, including the Justice League: Battle for Metropolis ride at Six Flags we reviewed a few years ago. Sally actually has an official Five Nights ride fully designed, and has shopped their ride concept around to theme parks all over the world. However, it doesn’t appear that anyone has taken them up on the order just yet.

YouTube Channel AwesomeGamerDude did a fantastic video about the history of Sallys plans for the attraction, and we wanted to share his video with all of you. We understand this is a day late, but we still wanted to share this great video about it with all of you, enjoy.

Apple has just released an important update for their devices. The new update, 17.1 for iPad and iPhones, improves AirPlay functionality, alongside the usual bug fixes and opitimizations. Depending on your device, the update could weigh in between 1-1.5 GB.

There does seem to be a sister update that was also released for Apple Watch, version 10.1. You will need to update your Watch from a device that already has 17.1 installed.

The first trailer which gives us an actual look into the story for Silent Hill Ascension was jut released. Check it out!

The game has billed itself as an interactive immersive series, and can be played in episodes as they release to the web. We still don’t know how this interactive series will work, but the developers have already revealed that viewers will be able to make character decisions as they happen, as well as solve puzzles between episodes. Can’t wait to see how this plays out, because the developers do promise that the events of this game, whatever they are, will carry over to the NEXT canonical Silent Hill games still in development.

Silent Hill Ascension is beginning its run at 9pm on October 31st, 2023. You’ll be able to play on Android, iOS and PC (through your web browser).

Detective Pikachu (2019) – Why I Loved It October 16, 2023

Time for a new video series! Welcome to Why I Loved It, where we’re going to talk about gaming documentaries or gaming related movies that I…loved. In 2019, Warner Bros released Detective Pikachu, a film adaptation of the 3DS-exclusive adventure game set in the Pokémon world. Reviews on the film were mixed at the time, but despite being the first live-action adaptation from the most dominant consumer franchise on the planet with a unique art style no other movie had at the time, not too many people have spoken about it over the past few years.

The film followed the story of Tim, a boy who discovers his father has gone missing while working on a case in Ryme City. When examining his father’s apartment, he discovers a Pikachu who was his father’s Pokémon partner, and Tim (and only Tim) can understand everything he’s saying as if he’s speaking english. Only together can they discover what happened to Tim’s father.

Since the release of The Super Mario Bros Movie, Hollywood has decided that video game adaptations could become the next major phase of Hollywood, just as superhero films were for the past twenty years. However, despite Detective Pikachu coming at just the right time, and the film being four years old, and a new game in the Detective Pikachu franchise recently getting released on the Nintendo Switch, not too many people have been speaking about this movie. So why did I love it? Well, here’s an unscripted thirty-five minute video where I tell you why I believe it is the gaming generation’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Just be aware, there will be spoilers.

Detective Pikachu can currently be watched on Freevee.

Did anyone else just see a new unannounced villain reveal himself? This is a big deal as we haven’t seen too much from this game since its major preview this summer.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming October 20th, 2023 exclusively to the PS5.

Meta Connect Keynote 2023 October 11, 2023

We’re slowly getting back into the swing of things here on the site, but we wanted to re-report on something that flew under our radar that happened last week. Meta held their Connect event Keynote, hosted by Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg. In it, he shows off the newly released Meta Quest 3, as well as some big new features that I have been seriously looking forward to.

As a Quest Pro user, it was surprising not to hear anything about that hardware, most of the talk seemed to revolve around either the Quest 2 or Quest 3, but I am still interested in seeing what Meta has in store. We both know Apple will be releasing their own googles in just a few months, and it is possible that this Keynote was meant to show that Meta’s can do now what Apple is saying their hardware can do when it launches later on (for a MUCH higher price).

I guess time will tell who is right. Maybe I’ll need to create a VR War history series in the future? Wouldn’t that be something?

One of the most unique games announced last years was a Silent Hill spin off game referred to as Silent Hill: Ascension. We didn’t know much about it at the time, other than the fact that WE as a community would be directing its path during live events. Today, we now have a better idea of how that will play out and will learn EXACTLY when those events will start. Check it out!

Silent Hill: Ascension is starting at 9pm on Halloween 2023. It can be played on your web browser or through their official mobile app. The mobile app can currently be preordered for free on Android and iOS devices.
